Your assumption that it is an FM frequency based operation is correct.
PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is the method used to encode the transmitted stick position values to your RX.
SPCM is a newer PCM encoding scheme, and uses 1024 steps of resolution.
You would select the SPCM on the Tx to match the RxWarbird Charlie
