    • Alpha.... PLEASE make available a clear canopy for purchase, so we can simulate the gold tint. The stock canopy is too dark to show anything sprayed on the inside.

Did you ever figure this out?

Had the same thing happened to me on my 6s pnp maiden yesterday. I was gutted to say the least. Had an experienced club member helping with maiden, no wind morning flight. No flaps on take off with a long roll out for more air speed, as soon as it lifted off I was fighting a very hard left roll, kept going inverted, I was only able to keep in the the air for maybe 30 seconds or so. I know the CG was spot on per the manual but it almost acted tail heavy too. I even tried switching on my lemon gyro briefly with no change. The throws were set up per the manual perfectly, I checked and rechecked over several days. All control surfaces were centered fine, even after the crash. The elevators wouldn't center by maybe 1mm on the bench/preflight but they were both not centering together so I figured normal.
I bypassed the blue box on my F-18c but I had at least 10 flights using it with no problems, I assumed it be ok to use it with the f-22 especially since it showed no bad signs in testing. I don't know that the blue box was the cause and I will be checking into things with a servo tester today hopefully, although everything still functions normal through the tx at the field post crash at least. I almost feel like servo function isn't showing problems until the edf is powered up and maybe with voltage change they act weird? Will try and test this also. BEC?
I don't know if I should open a ticket or not but it was so strange and out of my control. I've never had anything like this happen, even on a maiden and even though I know it's such a good flying plane I almost want to fix and sell it, but I am determined to get to the bottom of this and at least fly it a day. Damage is a new fuse and canopy.
Mine was a bad servo. This is how my elevators looked when I powered the plane up after the crash. It took some investigative work, but in the end Motion took care of me on it.

        • I guess I flew it a lot more than I thought!! Looks like 5 flights on sunday. I also didn't care for the way the burner was working so I changed it.

updated the afterburners already.... LOL This is better than I could have hoped!

Here are the other flights from the first day of flying... more to come this weekend!

              • The lightburner looked good to me, and seemed to be a quality unit. But when I saw the way yours didn't hang 2 units directly behind the fans.... I was sold. Glad I went with yours Goon !

scootergenie, thanks! Keep in mind that with my afterburner foam carving is not needed so as to house calls. It takes 5 minutes to install and setup as it clips to the back of the fan units; no gutting, gluing, foam carving or house visits required. It's insanely bright and yes, it does flicker.
My afterburner does not need to be used after sunset to be visible...

Yeah took me literally 3 mins to install thelightburner setup on my setups, easy peasy. Everything is plug and play and the intensity of the light is visible any time of the day, its always sunny side up in California and it don't make one difference whether if its day or night to see the light.

People dont need to wait until dusk to enjoy the afterburner .....

                          • Miraculously, now, the idea of having additional lighting intensity is suddenly of interest, funny how it took its own course of action in to play. Almost as if it were in autopilot.

Stolen know-how, stolen tech, glad its working out for those who continue believing what they want to believe, this is way better than the movie “Liar Liar” starring Jim Carrey. Ran your templates and CAD design and hard work has given rise to some real ground-feeding revelations. Look at the chain reaction! Why wait for Mt hood to erupt when an eruption is already taking place, this is good live footage. KEEP IT LIT!

                              • Had some really good flights this weekend! Did a mass flight with a combo of prop and edf planes, then several solo flights. This is becoming one of my fave planes! I got some great video of the afterburner in action during the daylight hours and after sunset! Here is a short clip of Nate's F-22 in action. I assembled, soldered, balanced and installed this set up for him and he is super happy with it! It turned out great! This is a single LED array and it does really well! take a look...

Many more videos to come later.. but here is a quick one for now...

Yeah it works great during the day but even better when the sun goes down. It's funny too because I made sure to let everyone know that the set up on my plane was a one off and not meant to be done this way all the time. However Scootergenie wanted to take on the challenge for doing what I had done anyway! It isn't hard to do but is a little bit more involved to get it done this way. I got great results with it too! This weekend it was a show stopper! Looks a lot like 2 engines in there now instead of the single edf! More than just lighting up the exhaust but actually looking more like there are individual engines. It can be done pretty easily but again its requires some grinding to get done. But any person with some skill and patience can do it. Looking forward to seeing his results when he is done!

                                  • ... Posted this back in April. My 'DuallyBurner®' has one of the modified GoonieBurner setups in here. Dual Arrays have a set of LEDs on either side of the fan. No central blind spot and very bright. Foam carving gets the Disc directly in the center of the Tubes !! Looks very realistic. Posted this to the FW F-4 and F-22 and F-15 threads here and over on the RCGroups... Posted some Great pictures of the installation on here also. Received a fair amount of criticism of the whole affair at the time. Very few were inclined to believe that there was anything special about this new arrangement. Glad there is more open mindedness about it now. In truth, this isn't some brilliant overnight revolutionary vision that just appeared. It's been done, worked out and already posted many months ago. The components and process of installing them ultimately become a very nice addition to those wanting a little more realistically rendered Afterburner on these Bifurcated Jets of ours.

A lotta good reading on this in the various threads. Just search DualieBurner, DuallyBurner or Dual Array here or Over on the RCGroups !! GL
