      • Any info on how to remove flap servos? One of my flap servos is acting weird but can’t seem to get servo lead out of wing.

Remove the plug at the wing root and try a standard servo extension direct from RX to the servo, bypassing the multifunction board.

See if its really a servo problem or something between the servo and RX.

                  • So just prior to landing, the nose pitches over and I land on the nosewheel. It collapses. Of course at first I think I snapped something or ripped the nosegear out. But no! And playing with it, it appears there's a "breakaway" feature?? I was able to put it back into place with a little "thunk." And now it cycles fine.

Is this a feature?? Am I good or did something break? Should I get a replacement?

                    • Interesting. I'm thinking you're ok, but I don't believe that's an actual feature built in. I believe you just got lucky.

Sometimes you get away with it. The locking mechanism slips past and breaks away. Other times you can bend or break the parks on the retract itself. It just depends on the impact. Good save on your part though!! Check and see if the locks are bent though....

Can't remember if they said so, but don't forget before flying to set it on a flat spot, run power halfway or so then to idle to enable AS3X. It works well. It's a good flyer.

                              • That's cool I'm running on frsky and not spektrum. So don't have to worry about that one.

                                • Make sure you check the wing plug ins. They have a habit of getting pushed into the wing, and not making contact. At one Air show in Gillette Wyo, I had the right retract fail to deploy. While making the go around I wiggled the plane around and cycle the gear. this time the right gear came down after landing and wiggling the wings around they failed again after getting home and checking, I found that the plugins in the wing were pushed in and not making contacted..I found the male connectors in the wing can be pushed in and back out very easy. I put some soft cotton in behind the connectors so they will make positive connections when installing the wings. I have made many flight since with out any problems.

                                  • Yes that is definitely one concern I have with this design.

                                    • While fixing the problem and removing the captive plates in the wings I found that they are using a Y harness to operate the retracts and the wing lighting with a very cheap small diameter wired Y harness. I also taped the connections in the wings. Some of the connections were almost ready to come unplugged. Like on all my planes I always do a preflight before every flight I make.

                                        • Mine showed a couple days ago and I was able to get it up and running... 2 minor issues... During assemble the rear wing screws would not get to the mount point. I needed to drill just a little bit of plastic away to get them to work. Also Had an issue with the BEC in the esc when I was about to set up for the maiden. It kept switching on then off. Like a loose pin or something... I won't ever trust something that is doing that. Thankfully I had a UBEC with me but didn't have a soldering iron strong enough for big wire. So I made a ubec to fit a small 3s pack that I had. Put that lil pack in front of the main battery which was a 6s 40c 5000. All worked great from there!

The plane is super light for its size! Much lighter than the new F/A-18D but using the same power system. I did notice that the EDF unit was super noisy and out of balance which is fine because it is coming out anyway. This is a much better candidate for the 2100kv set up I have at home which I happened to get all balanced and ready to go. I will swap them today. I may get some flights later this week as well... we shall see...

Here is my unboxing vid... nothing special but just wanted to do one...
