  • Day 580: I had a great day flying with my buddy Dieter, I'll post some video once he sends it to me of him chasing my F-86 with a quad, I was wide open and he was right on my six until one of his ESCs burst into flames...it was awesome. I flew a bunch of stuff but ended the evening with a GeeBee.

    • George, glad you got the GeeBee together. I have one in the hangar and two still in the boxes. Stocked up on them when I saw them going out about 1 and a half years ago. What a different, but fun flyer!

Lost my first one in an inverted flight and got too low, then the stupid thumb hit the elevator the wrong way. Only time that’s ever happened, and will definitely be the last! :Silly:

And here I thought you'd be up and flying, they were reporting weather in the 70's a couple of days ago in New York....
Don't feel bad, just when I thought we'd seen the worst of it......BOOM!!! 8 inches in one sickening day (last Sunday) I was out in the yard on Saturday and the trees were starting to bloom. Temps below freezing during the day, clear skies and no wind WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damned Winter, only good thing is that Spring is less than a month away and we usually have a great First Day of Spring to fly. That's when the guys from the club emerge from their Winter dens with, no not cubs, unless they're Piper Cubs. Let the fun begin!!!!

                • Very jealous of your weather TI, sounds like the perfect day. Here it has been 35 degrees and alternating light/pouring rain for the last week and a half. Field looks like a mud pit now.

                    • Managed to sneak in 6 flights today in between squall lines. It's raining right now as a matter of fact. And looking at another week of the same.

Anyway, here was my lineup for today. I got 4 flights on the P-40, 1 on the A-4 to check the weapons release, and 1 test flight on the F-104 which just came out of rebuild and repaint.

                          • You know the 104 flies very nicely. And that's on stock power too.

I took it easy on this flight as i just totally rebuilt her.
found my nose gear light barely hanging on as the screw was loose.

That's a negative ghostrider. Actually I got rid of it. But I may grab a new one in the future. I simply cannot fly that plane with split flaps. I will have to modify it. And stiffen the nose. Like the last one. And add lights....
hmmm might be a good project.

I'm still loving my Schwalbe. it's the 6-blade version. Picked it up (with an Admiiral 6S-5AH battery) for a little over a $100. The original owner had broken/repaired the nose. I better reinforced the nose and have been flying the snot out my 262. It is such a beautiful and unique warbird to fly, and is much better behaved that it should be. LOL
