  • Pneumatic retracts, what do you use at the field

    Hey all,

I will be starting a build this fall that has pneumatic retracts. I am gathering some odds and ends while I wait for the kit to ship.

Part of of my planning is to come up with a field pump.

What at do you use, hand powered or electric?
what fittings did you need to make it work?
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I use Robart fill valves & chuck. I have a 2 foot piece of airline connected to the chuck (the gold piece). It's easier to screw in the chuck and gives me some more room to move.
The other end has a football/basketball needle filler plugged into the airline. That is plugged into a $9.95 Harbor Freight 12 volt pump - the yellow.one - which I plug into the panel on my field box.
I use this setup on two different brands of retracts and it works pretty well.

I used this setup again today. It works well. I guess you could power the pump with a 3 cell lipo.

I use the same fittings as Nodirt except for the pump. I use a simple bicycle pump with a gauge im line. 2 pumps and im up to 100psi.
