  • Help, how to take off the cowl of Shrike glider neatly?

    Hello:

The cowl on my Shrike glider is broken, which is also used as motor mount.

So I order a replacement from MRC. However, how to take off the old one from the glider is a problem. It is glued on the foam body.

Is there any good method to take it off without damaging the foam? Thanks a lot for any tips/advices.

Just to update: I finally took off the old cowl. Here is my method, might not be the best, but works, a little bit ugly. I use a rotary tool(like Dremel, and a small cutting disc mounted on it. Using the tool to cut the cowl carefully, trying not to damage the foam below. The cowl is cut to small pieces, and using a plies to tear the small pieces down. During the procedure, I still damaged the foam a bit. But it should be fine, because eventually the new cowl will be glued back. I used a generous amount of glue. I won't fix the cowl any more if it breaks again.
