I will have to check my CG and check my throws so that I can relay them to you. It really does change the way the plane flies when the CG is further back. It flies a lot lighter and flies more fighter like. It takes off really quickly and lands even better...

    Some more recent flights...

    • Okay, your cg would be good for me to know, I didn't get a chance to even fine tune my first F-15, I sold it after only 3 flights. It was stock and I only flew it 3 times, don't like the paint job either but wanted to try another one so I bought the high performce version to find out how it really flies.

Your F-15 looks sweet! Great paint work! Please share the technique that you used to get such sharp lines especially without peeling up the factory gray paint. Also what paint did you use?
        thanks

        • Hey Low Roller, welcome to Hobby Squawk! For masking sharp lines and especially complex splinter patterns like a SU-35 or aggressor F-15, I really like using regular Post-It notes. At the Dollar Store they're cheap and come in many sizes. They're easy to position into sharp patterns, reusable many times, and don't peel up the paint at all. They're useful for airbrushed paintjobs especially, where the airbrushed paint is more susceptible to being pulled off, even by low tac painter's tape that has been dabbed on my jeans several times.

Great, thank you! I don't own an airbrush so what do you think is the best rattle can spray paint for foam? And On another note I am impatiently waiting for the pre order on the new A-10! I plan on doing an arctic camo scheme on it.

            • Hi Lowroller, welcome to Hobby Squawk! There is a lot of great information out there regarding paint. Here's a recent article we published...Hope you find it helpful!

I am not a builder.  Oh sure I can slap a Plug-N-Play together with the best of them but when it comes to any kind of significant build from a kit or ARF, I lack the tools, space, patience, mechanical and engineering prowess many folks display in this hobby.   One thing I do love to do is paint. Not liking or even pass

I fly mine on the Freewing 8S fan, Castle Creations 160A HV ESC, and a pair of Turnigy 5000mAh, 65C 14.8V batts. We had a GPS unit inside the plane, and in level flight after a shallow descent it registered 136.8 mph. When this beast comes screaming by you at 130 mph, 5 feet off the deck, and then pulls straight vertical...it is rather awe inspiring. This is my go to jet for everyday flying, though with the new addition of the 70mm F-16 on the 6S inrunner set-up to my fleet, it has a run for its money!!!

Thanks! I used Testor's Model Masters for the paint out of an airbrush. For tape I used a combination of tapes. The green Frog painters tape, the blue tape and Tamiya's masking tape. I have to say I really like the Tamiya product. It comes in several different widths and didn't pull a speck of paint off the jet. I de tacked it by sticking it to my pants a bit. The Tamiya seems to give a slightly sharper line the the others mentioned above. It is a little expensive compared to regular painter's tape. When the FW A-10 comes out I want to try the wet newspaper technique.

                              • Because Callie is comprised mostly of All Good Things and Awesomesauceness, she already has the livery ready to add to her website which she said she will soon! Man, now I need to get another F-15 just to put this livery on her!

                                • Got my new Fw F-15 built and flying. I bought the high performance pkg this time around, it flies a whole lot better than the standard version. I think I'm going to like this one, just wish it was available in a different color scheme. The kit was great, no issues at all, maiden flight went as expected, hardly any trim needed. For those who are thinking about buying one, pay the extra and get the high performance pkg, its worth it. Only bad thing is, batteries come down pretty warm, flight time is a little shorter but well worth it....

                                  • Next to the F-18, the F-15 is the best flying scale 90mm EDF jet we carry in my opinion. Definitely agree on the HP version...Great jet!
