Thanks. I used retracts from Hobbyking. I did a Mod thread in RCG detailing the install. Here's the link:

Had to do some modding to get them to fit because of the retract design. The ones I purchased are the metal case. Hobbyking sells also sells them with a plastic case which looks like it might be a simple drop in with no mods required.

    • I am going to snag the upgraded struts when they come back in stock. For those of you who got them, how do you like them?

They're great! MUCH better looking and surely stronger than stock. :)

The factory legs look very cheap IMHO.

I have 2 of these planes. One with my Hobbyking gear mod and one with the upgrades that Motion provides. I recommend either over the stock setup. I've had bad luck with the stock nose gear bending, causing intermittent operation. Since the upgrades, no issues at all.

          • Yep on my bad landing the other day it bent the nose gear strut way back. I was able to pull it back forward and aligned right again but yikes that's some flexible struts. I know Freewing is considering price when not offering the upgrades as stock but in the end I think we would all pay the extra 40 bucks or whatever just to have the quality struts to begin with. I know the larger EDF class (80mm+) gets the quality struts stock...I think they should extend that philosophy to their smaller EDF class (64mm/70mm).

            Thanks for the input!

Haven't had a chance to fly mine with them on yet, but the Freewing upgrade units are a must for me with grass. The gear openings in the plastic needs some trimming for the main gear to transition though, mainly where the machined "elbow" is. Mine also needed trimming at the ends of the openings of all three gear when extended. I didn't realize it until after I had glued the covers back on. Aside from the funtional advantage, they look great too.

              • Yeah I was wondering if the plastic covering were going to need to be trimmed. Sounds like a yes. Thanks for the info!

One aileron plugs into AIL. The other aileron plugs into AUX1 (flap). Select "flaperons" in wing type. You may have to swap the plugs or do a "reverse" in the servo menu for the ailerons if the direction of travel is not right. Go to flap menu and start fiddling till the ailerons are level at 0 flaps, and whatever you like for 1 flap and 2 flap settings. Make sure you don't over-do the % or you'll lose all aileron response in one direction. Select the desired time for deployment (slow is good - 4 to 5 seconds).

                        • Thought I would take a photo of Big Sister (HSD 105mm F-16) and Little Sister (FW 70mm F-16 V2) together. :)

I'll take another shot once I have the matching decals as well...

                                • Those look awesome Aros!! I think I am going to go with the Desert camo on the Warthog. The decals for the Termites support that paint scheme, so I don't even have to buy new ones!!!

We did have a "Pretty in Pink" fly-in at my local club a few years back to benefit breast cancer survivors, and I painted my F2G Corsair in a 3 tone pink camouflage scheme. It looked pretty sweet!!
