How hard would it be to swap the receiver for a spektrum receiver? ...

Easy. The control board has two connectors for external RX connection: 1.) an S-BUS connection, and 2.) a DSM connection for a (3-pin) Spektrum satellite RX. The control board apparently also has a built-in RX having an as-yet-undetermined protocol (which is utilized by the RTF version.)

Note that the FTR ("Futaba Transmitter Ready") version, includes a tiny Futaba S-FHSS protocol remote S-BUS RX. The RTF version does not include this remote RX.

Got this info from Wes' setup video, (linked to in the MRC product page "Videos" tab,) which is quite informative.

Hah, I ordered the RTF and want the Futaba Friendly setup. D'oh!

No matter, might be fun little guy to have around on those rare occasions when the wind isn't blowing here.

Love the desk stand idea. Where to display it will be the delimna.

I will probably add a few personal touches, however.

Edit: Oops, accidentally ordered the RTF version when I should have ordered the FTR version. (I use a FrSky+MPM transmitter that has the S-FHSS protocol.) According to Wes' setup video, the RTF version does NOT come with the tiny remote S-FHSS micro SBUS RX.

Unfortunately, MotionRC is closed today (Saturday) and their website doesn't seem to allow cancelling the order.
