      • Good day all,
I am in the process of building the Pichler OV-10 here in the UK as my lockdown project. I was wondering anyone had created a 3D print for the external fuel tank and the hard point associated? I have had the exhausts 3D printed that I saw on this thread (awesome!)
        Cheers!

        • Finally had some time to start weathering, the result on the photo looks darker than it really is.... lot of work, but i like the results...

          • TommyG Welcome home to Hobby Squawk! I haven't seen anyone design a centerline tank for this bird yet. I know I haven't. Given it's size, it would be a large print, but still something that can be achieved in multiple segmented prints. Perhaps one of the other resident 3DPUP designers can chime in.

                • I had a left over Wing Tank, and mount from my FW, 90mm F-15, and after cutting down the mount some, the tank fit the OV-10 Bronco centerline perfectly.

                  • Just started building this impressive plane. Like a lot of you, I'll be adding some touches to make it appear more 'scale'. Lots of discussion on replacing the stock struts. I wondered about just modifying the current ones to have a different angle by lengthening the forward link. My engineering days are far behind me so looking for comments on the approach. I 3D printed a new link, just for fit. Pictures attached. I could print this in nylon or even CF reinforced material, but should be really easy to mill from aluminum ( if I knew how).

                    Thoughts?

                    • Did production of "Profly OV-10" shift to a different production facility, ie "Nexa"? I see we are now the official "Nexa OV-10" site.....

walkerm45 The 1800 Bronco is still being built at the same place, the ProFly name was going to be the "inhouse " brand name for balsa birds but since Motion has now teamed up with VQ Models the Nexa is the inhouse brand for multiple brands of balsa airframes that Motion brings in as explained by Alpha over on one of the other Nexa announcements.

                        • Maiden done ! It's a nice flying plane, no trimming necessary at all, i went with the CG at 85 mm... AUW was 9kg. Speed was good, but i did not have enough power for a steep climb or a looping, so i'll have to change things. Upside was after a 10 min flight i still had 30% left in my 5000mah lipo.. i run 2x 5s 5000 in paralell... max amp draw was 54amp for each motor. My Ramoser varioprop is 13.9, and pitch set at 14.5... i've ordered a set of 15.2 diameter props, should help the vertical performance...

Some photo's i took before the maiden..

                                • Thanks !

While waiting for larger prop's, i've done 3 flights with 6s instead of 5s, needless to say the performance was very good, but at WOT i exceed the max rpm tolerance of the prop's...Well, in therory i must admit... maybe in flight it's ok....
I will still try the larger prop on 5s once i've got them, will report back...

Took more detail photo's, happy with it !

                                        • The Bronco is complete, except for the Propeller warning decals. AUW is 19lbs and a quick CG check appears almost spot on at 85mm. I need a nice table to assemble and setup the model and until conditions upgrade due to social distancing restrictions at my flying sites she'll stay in the hangar. Hopefully a few more weeks til maiden.
