Re: Freewing Dauntless 1400 mm
I tried everything I knew to get the SBD Dauntless flaps to close tighter from TX adjustments to servo adjustments with no luck. Finally I figured out a way to get both flaps to close tight by securing a magnet on both the top and bottom side of each flap with a small amount of Gorilla glue. The magnets are small and the exact size of the round holes in the flaps. I used one set of magnets on one wing and had to use two on the other to get a flush tight finish. The magnets are strong enough to keep the flaps closed tight but will release when you deploy flaps with your TX switch. This fix also made a big difference in the flight performance of the plane by having a completely smooth wing surface during flight.

Re: Freewing Dauntless 1400 mm
There's another circumstance I've encountered before -- didn't think of it while I was replying above. That being, as I had on an AT-6, the foam itself that comprised the flaps was warped from the factory. They were of the 'split' type & no easy way to get 'em off so, I just flew it as was. Kinda halfway planned to replace 'em with self-made balsa flaps but never did.

Re: Freewing Dauntless 1400 mm
The flaps bind on the inner part. My friends did the same thing and I had to sand a angle on the inner flap for them to close all the way. End points on the transmitter wont do it. For a more scale effect add 2 more servos so they open and close like the real deal

Re: Freewing Dauntless 1400 mm
Its a foam problem, It could of been avoided if a plastic sheet was used but heh. The way I got them to close was: use plastic quick grips and gently close them together. Use a hair dryer, make sure it has a cold setting feature on it. After clamping flaps blow hot air on them being careful not to alligator the surfaces but get them warm then blow the cold air on them. This will get them to close. You may have to to this a few times.
