  • Aileron Servo Movement in FW AT-6

I was setting up some differential in my ailerons and I found right ail would only move up 12 mm and left Aileron 10 mm UP. With travel adjustment max'd out - this is the Max that I could obtain . I have no idea of what the suggested up and dwn amts would be ?? nothing in the manual .
Rudder and Elev are fine - just very little movement in Ail servo's.

I have never run into servo's that would not move anymore , than the ones in this wing ??

Re: Aileron Servo Movement in FW AT-6

    Tom,
When you have large control surfaces like the ailerons on the AT-6 it doesn't take too much deflection to initiate a bank or a roll with the plane. That being said, if you want more movement in the servo you can check the setting on your radio to make sure you have full travel, and you can also make linkage changes on your servo horns and control horns to maximize movements. If you want to increase the movement on any control surface follow this simple guideline - 1) move your clevis towards the innermost hole on the servo horn and 2) move your clevis towards the outermost hole on the control horn. Please use these settings with caution because it will give you a significant amount of control surface movement, and some smaller servos may be damaged by the increased torque/pressure placed on them during sudden turns or high speed flight. Test the various settings and find out what is right for you. I always recommend using the middle servo horn hole and outer control horn hole when starting out.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark

      Mark ,

Thanks for the info :-) I learned long ago the physics of the horns and
servo arms , lower hole on one and outter most hole on the other , to get
      the greatest
      amt of movement

My concern on this plane , with travel Adj max'd out - one servo moves very
little in comparison with the other . I usally set up the higher amt of thro
      in a surface
then set low rates at 70 % and start with that - til I see how the plane is
going to react But I have not found any suggested thro's for this plane
      ??

I'm going to do some more looking at the left ail servo- as it only moves a
few degrees in either direction - Not comfortable taking it to the field
      with such little
      travel :-)

Oh, the one wing bolt down in the TE of wing, screw would not go , turns
out the metal part in the foam was ?? x 'd so I bought a 4 mm tap, thinking
I cud straighten the threads out ? wrong, the part in the foam just went
round and round so that did not work . Much to my dismay, will have to use
some thick CA on that side of the plane while squeezing fuse and wing
      togeather til it sets up
