  • USS Missouri 1/200 scale Superstructure modification.

So for anyone who has the Missouri and knows how tedious it is to remove the superstructure (unscrew it) and get to the battery or even the on/off switch here is a simple fix!

Start by boring out the screw hole under the 5" guns with the Dremel tool bit in the photo. As you can see it is a perfect match for the diameter of the mini round magnets and you can get both at Home Depot. Be careful and take your time. One small detail piece came lose from the vibration so have a paper towel under the structure as you do this so you can easily see anything that might fall off during the grinding process.

Then find 4 metal screws (the ones included will not work with the magnets) and install them into the points on the main deck where the structure attached. Set the superstructure back on and make sure the screw height does not keep it from fully seating onto the deck. If so grind them down a bit.

Now slide in the magnets and make sure they give you enough room to seat the 5" guns all the way down. If not, grind a bit more off the screws.

Once everything looks good, just use some CA glue to adhere the magnets to the superstructure.

I then used Foam Tac on the 5" guns in a very small amount. Just enough to hold them in place.

Now it will just pop on and off with no hassle.
