Sorry on vacation… I preliminary check shows sadly nothing close to me. Eugene, OR I think was the closest which is still hours away. Makes sense because Astoria is one of the wettest places in the country per year lol!
I’ll reach out to the director though.
Meanwhile…Aloha from Kauai!

Hi Todd,
Have you determined if one of the NAMBA clubs Ive shown you is in your area?
TIA

Ask Mike where he sets the cg on that hull. Ideally its probably one or two inches behind the sponsons trailing edge. I've always said I was going to build one where the batteries load into the sponsons through access panels on the deck but I have never started on the project. Build one like that and a lot of kiting will be eliminated. I'm actually using an autonomous front ram wing on the Finlay version on the Pak to keep the nose down. It also has a very different sponson design. Maybe I'll finally do it on the Newton 3 wing.
Thanks for your time and patience,
Hubert

Good advice! I’ll start out on 8S and once I have my sea legs with her I’ll see if I want to bump it to 10S. The next step is finding out where I am going to put the two 4S batteries.

Ok you got plenty motor. She will put out over 6kW peaks (8hp) you should be fine starting at 50mm. Thats a really nice combo price for all you get too. Thats well over 200.00 dollars worth of items sold individually. NAMBA approved....😁 I think you did good on that one especially starting out. At some point you may want to step up to 10s lipo on that motor. It can take it and the Kv is right for it, but see how it goes after u get a feel for it.Originally posted by Aros View Post

Do you have a way to measure the motor? I think its a 4092 . Did it run you right around 100 bucks? U also have a pm

Honestly I don’t have any data on the motor other than it being 850Kv.

You are talking about 25,000 rpm so youll likely end up being able to swing a prop 55-57mm a lil larger than most 10 s setups . But still start in the 50mm range I dont know the motor or esc that well. Does it have datalogging and can it work with Futaba or another branded radios telemetry?Originally posted by Aros View PostThank you so much!
my motor is 850Kv and the ZTW 200A ESC is rated up to 8S.
Is your motor a 4092?
TIA

I'm not a NAMBA rep or anything but go ahead and join if you can so you can get that additional support in your hobby. Too many guys out your way. And I'm sure they'd love to see your very nice boat out at their events when you can make them.
DISTRICT DIRECTORName: Jeff Barnhart Phone Email: jmbarnhart14@gmail.com Web Site: namba8.com
If you are going to run it solo you have to consider dead boat retrieval . You cant swim after it. Not safe...

What Kv is the motor. And are you planning on running 8 or 10 cells? I run Futaba and nothing else in 30 years ive only purchased 3 and the latest is the 10PX but you can get something in their line that is just as good for less cash. I got it because the boats are not the only things I run. I like robotics as well so I wanted multiple channels on surface and telemetry, gyros, etc.Originally posted by Aros View PostThanks man! I don't have a club around me to join so I was just going to run it solo at this nice lake not far from me. I'm looking for suggestions on what prop, batteries, radio and receiver to use...
For cells Im trying the SMC drag cells this spring.
Max Amps are another castle drag recommended pack.
Props you will probably be in the 45-55mm range with an AR of 1.4 to 1.8 depending on the brand and cut. You have choppers and cleavers. Most widely used brands are ABC and OCTURA. Id start with an Octura x450 or x452. They should be fairly safe till you can see where your amperages are.
And look around there has to be a club near you. I cant believe that. Let me look at what district you are in.

Oh I almost forgot . What prop you starting with? Does your club have limits on the prop? Sometimes if you run along side nitros they detune you a bit with a prop limit. Depends on the club rules and what the guys agree upon. Wide open unregulated running the FE has the advantage. NAMBA will probably be your sanctioned body direction because they're kinda more west coast while the IMPBA seem more east coast. You're in about the best state for RC 1/8 and 1/6 scale activity without a question. Ure lucky.....actually because you're really where its at... they have some extremely nice boats out your way. Youve just been added to that club because nothing is newbie about the way that came out. Its a stellar presentation really.
Bro yall smashed it!!!! U laid the hello out of those decals & the paint looks wet. Great Job!!!

I'm a true fan of hydroplanes and I like yours ALOT.
PS no matter what you read on forums if you can get especially Andy Brown or Brian Buass prepared props that's the way you go. I'm not knocking anyone else prop work I'm just telling you this is what you do if you can get them ..🙈🙉🙊
I just found a few more AB's and purchased quickly . so if you look around you might get Lucky. But Im sure you can get some work done by Brian. Maybe he's on Offshore electrics I'm not sure. If you can locate Lohring Miller on the forums you can get in touch with the "snowman" Brian Buass.

Man no problem. Sorry I hadn't said anything but youve outdone yourself. Thats on helluva scale you got there sir. Very nice boat. U still gone run it???👀LOL!!!
Tell the guys on IW you want to mount the turn fin and table the boat b4 you run it and let them take you through the process. Ask Don or one of the scale guys. I like to run my strut at zero degrees but There are other opinions and if you are running a wire drive zero degrees at the strut may not be possible. I will make a suggestion . When you run a prop at an angle the props pitch is no longer the reported pitch measure taken at zero degree AOA because at an angle the entry and exits of the prop into the water are at different pitches now. What the real Budweiser team decided to do was neglect slip and deem the pitch @ their AoA whatever it turned out to be by the rpm & actual speed the boat was traveling. What do you have for data logging?
You could also add this small afterburner kit $16.99 for realism which might actually be a points event out your way .

Hubert
