  • JCRC New Runway Dedication and Warbird Show

The Tirediron Aviation gang will be attending the Johnson City Radio Controllers new runway dedication July 22nd, this will also be my 365th day of daily flying. Steve "RCJetDude" and I are members of this club and I serve as an officer there, the runway was a horrible mess for years and now it's all new asphalt with concrete taxiways.

Steve and I plane to take a bunch of planes to show and fly so we'll be posting our pictures here...just a few shots of the new mobile hangar loaded down.

It fits a lot of planes with ease. That's how I would fill up my RV if I had one. Ha-ha! :Cool:LOL

My classic U-haul trailer is loaded and ready to head out bright and early. I am taking 6 planes, all jets, and I am really looking forward to the event but more so the opportunity to be present when George flies for the 365th day in a row. That is quite an accomplishment and I am ecstatic to be able to witness it.

                        I'm truly blessed...

Today was one of the best days I've ever had, we had a great event today and dedicated our new runway, lot's of beautiful planes and very talented pilots, no one was hurt other that a plane of two, great news coverage, awesome food and competitions...but that's pretty normal for an event such as this.

The best part of the day was spending time with my Tirediron Aviation brothers, these are the best guys I've ever been a part of. They came out early and helped setup for the event, they helped as spotters and represented our hobby with honor...then right before I made my "Day 365" flight they presented me with a Freewing F-86 Jet and a very nice card. Needless to say I was very humbled by this and had to bite my tongue to keep from crying like a baby, this was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. To top off the day my wife, daughter and granddaughter got a cake with a picture of me flying on it to celebrate my year of flying.

It was so hot today at the runway dedication but we had a really good time. It was very cool being present when George completed 365 consecutive days without missing a day of flying. Congratulations on your accomplishment George. To commemorate the occasion and to say thank you to George for all he has done for us, the Tired Iron Aviation group presented him with a gift as a small token of or appreciation.
