    Now for a different strategy...

    Chalk
    Aquarella pencil

If you use Polycryllic, even printed labels can be removed.
Waterslide decals could be made small enough disguise that # as nomenclature.

Any other ides for visible but easily removed non permanent mediums?

If the FAA were flooded with unanswerable questions, coupled with ambiguous and unenforceable responsibilities for the agency, they could drop it like a hot potato. With enough help from the AMA, this might be do-able.
The place to voice all of this is with our elected politicians, local FAA Inspectors and LE Agencies. The AMA should be willing to assist and it may be a long road to draw and define a distinction between the irresponsible operators and organized, governed hobbyists. The current language unfortunately places both of us in the same group.
In the meantime, be prepared to cooperate to demonstrate unanimity within the model aircraft community and save yourself some potential fines. As long as you comply you can also voice your disdain.
”...you do not argue with the building inspector”
    PERIOD.
But give them something to take back to the conference table to show our respect and concern toward safety - and that is the banner the FAA waves. If we can show and prove that our hobby is a waste of time for the Inspectors to monitor, that language will change.

And by the way, I did get the FAA Inspectors job, accepted the position and then withdrew my application before the recent shutdown. I also know quite a bit about that role and the current demands on their areas of operation.
My current employers made it clear how much they did not want me to leave and a FG12 position was real hard to let go of.
There are things we don’t want to do which will cast a shadow on our current very favorable position. Contempt and non-compliance are just two of those.

Now with all the crap in the world going on this may not be the fight to end all fights, but if you sit for the little stuff it all afds up to big stuff in the end.

And as far a C-4 goes.... If you are obtaining that without a Federal Explosives License, and not maintaining a magazine, and all the transport permits, then how can you put that unlicensed HE in your registered drone??? Hmmmm

NO terrorist or domestic bomber is going to register their bird or drone!!!!!!!!! How hard is that to figure out... How many killers have said, "I better register my gun or bomb or knife or truck" before they did their evil deed???? ANSWER!!! Not one of them!!!

Pull a banner, or something.... And God forbid, if the letters won't fit, how much C-4 will actually be effective??? Just asking....

Thi@ is just the gateway, next ruling will be letters have to be 1"tall and contrasting to the aircraft color.

I guess they will have to fine me I am not putting crap on my plane.

After the 1"letters they will say the plane cant gly any faster than the number can be read by the naked eye from 300yds.......crazy.

To be honest, it's utter bureaucratic non-sense, by people that have no understanding of our hobby what so ever.
Does anyone really think a guy with a big RC plane and a load of C-4 would actually register? Quick answer, NO!

Does anyone think a village idiot that decides they're going to set a new world altitude record with their drone is actually going to label it in any way?

    I

I know...it's frustrating. Things are changing in our beloved hobby that require us to change too. Not easy for sure but we have not been told that we cannot fly. ;)

Yes. That changes on the 25th. Not gonna ban you bro. We are all in this together. I don't like it either, believe me.
