Well it could do with the Arab/Israeli 6 Day War, and that would be a Dassault Ouragan, Which would be the French equivalent of the F-86 and MiG-15. OR it could be any one of the planes at "The Boneyard", Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

I hear and understand the words of financial practicality and size necessity regarding the 64mm jets and yes, I guess I'm drifting from the "Foil Guesses" (my guess is the F-100). The true sound of EDF jets comes from more blades. It's just too bad that Freewing doesn't simply use 9 or 12 blades as stock in all of the 64mm jets. Isn't that what we want to hear? a turbine sound instead of hair drying? EDFs have come a long way baby!....I guess there really are no "bad jets".....

Hey Woodie,
Cut the front 2 tabs that connect the wood tray to the fuse and the tray will be "spring hinged " Makes it ez to push down a bit and slide the 1800 4 cell pack forward to make cg ( I have it close to the servo wire track ). This plane is the most fun you can have for under 100 (OK a bit more with the upgrade, SO worth it) Sorry for the off topic, gives us somethingto do while waiting for foil.

Is foil a Beach 18?Originally posted by mr.frankenjet View PostI have the panther 64mm, flew ok with the stock setup BUT the 12 blade 4 cell performs fantastic. Great sound and thrust. I have mostly 70mm and up including the Avanti (love it) so I'm familiar with larger stuff. The 4 cell setup on these smaller planes does not disappoint.
Hey Frank,
I actually have developed a special fondness to my Freewing F9F. How did you manage to fit a 4S battery in that plane?

Be careful Airhead, stay on topic, lol. IS FOIL A BEAR BOMBER??Originally posted by AirHead View PostI agree that Freewing should lose the whining 64mm "hair dryer" group. Yea, I was pretty disappointed when my Freewing 64mm F-8, F9F, and Thunderchief showed up with a 5 bladed fan. I just got a 64mm Stinger Jet, I haven't seen that fan yet. Probably check it out this weekend. I honestly thought I would get more blades, but I may have not been paying attention. If I take a liking to one of these I'll probably fit it with the upgraded fan. I understand Motion is trying to keep the price point below 100 bucks, I can respect that.
Power Trippin, sheesh.
Best Regards
Woody

Somewhere along the lines there was a reference to "dying in the desert." Not by Alpha, but a continuation from a previous clue (likely the King of kings and Egypt references listed above).Originally posted by wolpertinger View PostOK so let the guessing game begin again. - Alpha Post #552 - Not an SR-71 Black bird and not a Foxbat.
So, what other clues are out there to tease?
I'm not a huge jet/history buff so naturally I'd inquire about any wars in the desert. However, does it necessarily mean the middle east? Could it be something that was flown experimentally in our own desert? Surely this is a fast plane, and from clues, seemed to really raise the bar for the future of our aircraft. Certainly I badly want this to be some sort of stealth aircraft, but I don't have enough information or credibility to form any sort of hypothesis.

The 64 mm have the niche of allowing people who are on the EDF fence try without sinking about $500 into the project, or people that don't have the flying space for the bigger planes.Originally posted by AirHead View PostI agree that Freewing should lose the whining 64mm "hair dryer" group. Not everyone has access to a suitable runway for EDF use. The affordable hand launch 64 mm jets make EDFs viable for them. On a personal note, I've always liked small planes and an easily hand launchable plane is right up my alley. The sound of the 5 blade 64mm fans doesn't bother me, but I'll admit the 12 blade 64 mm fan sounds better.Originally posted by AirHead View PostI agree that Freewing should lose the whining 64mm "hair dryer" group. Well said Steve. This is just for fun. Alpha and the Motion teams are bringing products to us as they are ready and not before. Relax and play the game. Don't let "your own expectations" cause frustration. The Squawk has always been a layed back fun group. Please, let's keep it that way.:);)

These guessing games were intended to simply be fun requiring the guessers to reason through the connection of the name to the subject. They were not presented in any particular order or with any expectation of delivery. Some have turned it into something it was never intended to be though. Using it as a sounding board for what they want and also ranting about releases that did not meet those expectations. Foil is just one project name of several that has been thrown out there with some clues but for the life of me I don't understand why people are fixating so much on it and not the others. Delays happen for reasons we have no control over but will likely benefit everyone involved in the end. There has never been any solid delivery dates thrown out as they aren't announced until they are well on their way. Bond came out of nowhere and gave up an F4 that the masses had been requesting for a long time but it didn't take long for the new to wear off and the focus to shift back to Foil. So what will happen after Foil is released I wonder? What will be the next project to get worked up over? As a mod I am going to do everything I can to steer this thread back to what it was intended for. I can easily start deleting posts that stir the pot or provide no real benefit. I would personally rather see the people who post here stick to the guessing game and focus less on delivery on their own though. These products and more are coming. Freewing and Motion will deliver. Let that be enough and get back to having fun trying to correlate the names to planes.

Perhaps this thread can serve as a "lessons learned".Perhaps the board moderators need to prohibit users from creating threads like this and only have them originate from the "men behind the curtain" who have an idea of when a particular project will be delivered. Someone mentioned that other than "Foil" there are like three other projects possibly preceding it and all this perceived delay is turning people away. It's akin to Horizon's practice of announcing a new plane, taking pre-orders, and the delivery date turns out to be six months later. Leave the "What's next Alpha" thread going, but don't start speculation threads more than 90 days from expected delivery. And when the inevitable delay occurs, explain it to the crowd. And for god's sake, deliver pre-orders to both the US and European customers at the same time. Nothing angers people more than one group going on about THEIR experiences while the other has to wait another week or two.Originally posted by Quickstop View PostAt this point I'm so over the project foil guessing game:Yawn:

turning without rudder make turns as nasty as a 2 dollar crack *****. The butt drops and the face of the turn has more wrinkles than a old 1880s washboard.

But no retracts or rudder is a no sale for me when it comes to scale planes. Rudder is an absolute essential element of my flying.
