Hello, Fellow pilots, I recently built the all new Avanti 80MM EDF Jet. How simple was that? I'd say for the first time, I didn't have to use the Chinese instruction book. This model is a cinch to build, I admit, there is one thing the book is a bit much. The build is screws and carbon spars, again very straight forward. Once you get to the transmitter setup, again it's all labeled nicely. Although, you should always make sure yourself. That the wires are plugged in correctly. This is done by verification of the book, they have a layout page. I'm going to use the DX8 by Spektrum, this will allow for plenty of channels. You only require a 6 channel, so 8 channel is extra channels you don't need. I was considering installing a Hobby Eagle gyro, in the near future. Back to the book and what I said was a bit much. The throws for this jet are stated in the book. This is obviously setup for an expert pilot. At any point, when the ailerons, elevator, and flaps are set to a longer throw. Maybe a pilot should reflect back on other models that are similar. Those longer throws, per say" can make the jet very fast to yaw. If you like a fast roll rate, then these settings might be good for you. Elevator pitch, anytime you have a large elevator pitch. The jet is going to pitch upward very fast. This means there is plenty of power for it to fly up. Myself, I consider being an intermediate pilot. Yes, I could possibly catch the roll rate blunder. What I mean by that is, if the model wasn't trimmed yet. I could probably catch it before I crash. In reality, we should never get into that position if at all possible. That being said, using less travel on the flight surfaces is key here. Mine is set to, 3/8 inch ailerons and 1/2 inch elevator. The rudder is to the factory suggested throw. I don't mind a little more rudder. The flaps are set to 20% take off; which it's not necessary for this model. Landing flaps are set to 40% which requires some throttle to land. Using the throttle to land a jet is far better than a "cut throttle landing. The flare is a good method to maintain a good nose gear landing. Hopefully, you are all enjoying this fine jet. It's absolutely one of the most stable, slow flying jets available. Don't misunderstand a slow flying jet though. It's 115MPH out of the box, that's not slow! Cheers and happy landings pilots. Thank you, for reading my reply.
