CAC Wirraway “RAAF Camo” 1650mm (65") Wingspan - Balsa Wood ARF from Nexa - NXA1075-001

The CAC Wirraway represents a unique and often overlooked chapter in World War II aviation history. Developed in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation from the North American NA-16 trainer—the same lineage that led to the legendary T-6 Texan and Harvard—the Wirraway served as a multi-role aircraft performing training, reconnaissance, and light attack duties. Its broad wing, distinct greenhouse canopy, and rugged stance give it a distinctive look that stands apart from more familiar warbirds.

The Nexa CAC Wirraway captures that unmistakable character in a beautifully executed wood ARF that delivers both presence and versatility. Its distinctive canopy, scale-inspired lines, and classic proportions create a model that commands attention on the ground and carries that presence into the air—offering something refreshingly different on any flightline.

Built from precision laser-cut balsa and plywood, the airframe provides a strong, lightweight structure with the clean finish and rigidity that wood ARF models are known for. The result is smooth, stable flight characteristics and predictable handling, making the Wirraway equally suited for relaxed scale flying or general sport use.

Designed for both electric and glow power systems, the Wirraway offers flexibility to match your preferred setup. Whether configured for electric simplicity or traditional glow operation, it delivers a balanced, confidence-inspiring flight experience that highlights its unique design and heritage.
    Distinctive Warbird Presence

The Wirraway stands apart with its broad wing, framed greenhouse canopy, and rugged stance. It’s a look that’s instantly recognizable—and refreshingly different from the typical warbird lineup. On the ground or in the air, it commands attention.
    Greenhouse Canopy Detail

The expansive framed canopy is a defining feature of the Wirraway’s design. It creates a unique silhouette and adds a level of visual depth that stands out both up close and in flight.
    Smooth, Confidence-Inspiring Flight

A stable airframe and well-balanced design translate into predictable, easy-to-manage handling. From relaxed scale cruising to everyday sport flying, the Wirraway delivers a composed, confidence-inspiring feel.
    Functional Flaps for Enhanced Control

Integrated flaps expand the aircraft’s flight envelope and improve low-speed handling. Whether setting up for landing or refining your approach, they add both realism and control.
    Precision Wood ARF Construction

Built from laser-cut balsa and plywood, the airframe offers excellent rigidity with a clean, professional finish. This construction method delivers both durability and the smooth flight characteristics pilots expect from a wood ARF.
    Electric, Gas or Glow—Your Choice

Designed to support both electric, gas glow power systems, the Wirraway adapts easily to your preferred setup. It’s a flexible platform that lets you build for simplicity, performance, or tradition.

    • Distinctive CAC Wirraway design stands out from typical warbirds on any flightline

Had to pull the trigger on this one, just too obscure not to. Same ole demise though with my balsa planes, gas or electric.

Yep , My birthday is 5/14 and this is what I am getting . I have to give to Motion. The camo, the weathering, the pilots, they got it right ! I have both sizes of the Dauntless and they are great flyers , I except this plane to do the same . I will however go to 6s 5000 because I know the model will need nose weight. I plan on the same set up as my Nexta Dauntless -60size motor, 6s5000 and 100amp ECS

Did anyone notice the variance in the span ? Is it 60” or 64.9 “?

Just had it out to inspect all the parts but already put it back with the plethora of clear tape. Was able to measure the wing sections though, center section 18" and the 2 outboards 23.5" each. 65". Of course measuring while in sections taped in the box all stacked up give it a ± of about a 16th or so.. You will most assuredly like it.

Are you sticking with the 4s or going to 6S ? I know with the Dauntless they suggested 4s and I went with 6s and it flys great with virtullay no weight needed for CG

If go electric most likely stick with 4S.
