  • Dynam F6F Hellcat!!! Ready To Go!!

    Greetings Gang,

Managed to squeeze a little down time today and put my new Dynam F6F Hellcat together.

Wow!! What a nicely engineered plane!!
It went together in no time and is simply sweet!!!

Probably took twice as long to apply the decals then it took to build it!!
But, it is solid!!! and BIG!!

I cannot wait for an opportunity to get this bad boy in the air but, unfortunately, I'm headed back to Dallas for another week so it will just have to wait.
I snapped a couple of quick shots with my phone just to give you an idea of what a beauty this bird is!!!

Looks great Bill! My son has the Corsair and if it flies anything like that you'll love it.  :)

        Greetings ,

Thanks, I've been very impressed with the plane thus far.

It's sleeting here in Oklahoma at the moment but hopfully by the time I return from Texas all will be well weather-wise.

          Hey Bill,

That Hellcat looks great! Sorry the weather there won't allow you to fly, but it will give you something to look forward to when you get back from Texas.

          Have a safe trip!

I think it's sleeting or snowing just about everywhere. Sun is out here but we got 8 inches of heavy wet snow and ice yesterday. Time to go dig the stupid car out and see how or if I can get out to the road. I think I've watched every R/C video there is on YouTube at this point. Winter needs to be over....

Ha! I saw them! I really thought about putting them on the Pandora at one point since I switched it back to taildragger but I figured out something about myself. I haaaaate cold weather ! LOL! Did you do skis on your Pandora Bryan? Someone once said you and I were the only ones flying it with tricycle gear. :-)

                    Greetings Fly Boy,

Nitroplanes had it on sale week before last.
I ordered it and received it in 3 days or so.

I believe they are still in stock, but don't know if they're still on sale.

Wait, I just checked and they are still on sale at $129.00!!

                      Hey Rocketeer,

Thats where I thought you got it from, but after having NP drop the ball on me a couple times, I dont trust them.
I dont hear any complaints so all is well with no shipping damage or defective parts?

Oh man don't get me started on issues with NP they earned them selves a no shop here tag in my circular filing system. I placed that company and their crappy customer service where its best... under garbage!

                          Bill,

Nice new toy you got there. Make sure the cowling is secure on these, My first flight on the fF6F a couple years ago dislodged the cowling and the prop made confetti out of it. I would not trust the magnets alone.

RE: Dynam F6F Hellcat!!! Ready To Go!!

                            Greetings Guys,

First, I suppose I've been lucky as the multiple purchases I've made with Nitroplanes were smooth and without a hitch.

I try to keep in mind that places like Nitroplanes, Banana Hobby, Greyson's, General Hobby, MRC and most if not all of the others are 'distributors'.
They don't actually make the planes we buy. FMS/Freewing at Banana Hobby is the same as FMS/Freewing at MRC. Dynam at Nitroplanes is the same as Dynam at MRC.

All of these companies 'distribute' great planes and periodically, all of these companies 'distribute' some duds!

Admittedly, I've purchased more planes through MRC than any of the others but, I've also received more damaged shipping boxes from MRC than the others as well.
The primary difference of course, as we all know, is that of all the distributors MRC is always/immediately there during and after the purchase.

Second, I added some small pieces of double-sided tape to the Hellcat's cowl.
Enough the hold it securely, but not enough to prevent removal is necessary.

                            Clear Skies,

                            Bill L.

                              Great points there Rocketeer.

Like you, I have had multiple orders from MRC,(my personal favorite), Tower Hobbies, Nitroplanes, HobbyKing, and Grayson's. I've had some damaged packages, but very rarely have I had the contents damaged. The one time I did receive some damaged goods, was from Tower Hobbies, and I have to say, their response was very quick, and they shipped me the new parts free of charge in under a week's time. In my opinion, Tower is very close to MRC in terms of customer support.

Everyone has their horror stories from different vendors, and I have let some of them sway my buying decisions at times, but I've found that most companies do want to make it right if given the chance.

                              Just my .02

                                Greetings Loneflier,

                                Indeed.
Although some companies just aren't customer service oriented, I really don't believe they intentionally try to put themselves out of business.

You nailed it, if given a chance almost all of our distributors will try to make good on issues as they arrise.

I would hate to see an enthusiast miss out on getting to fly an awesome aircraft because they are unhappy with a distributor who's only role in the transaction was to accept payment and ship the product. The responsibility of QC lies at the point/company of origin, not with the distributor.

OK, I'm off this soap box.   :shy:

Right now, I'm waiting on the second phase of snow to roll in.
Time to put the skies on the Skymule!!

Hey Bill I have been putting in small magnets instead of two sided tape . I take same sized drill bit and with my fingers twist a just deep enough hole to glue them down . Just a thought

RE: Dynam F6F Hellcat!!! Ready To Go!!

                                    Greetings Bryan,

Agreed, I thought of doing that and if the cowl issue escalates I will most likely go that route.
The double-sided tape is what I had on hand so, lazy is as lazy does.   :D

I think there are a few I can snag from a no-longer functional fuse though.
I need to look into that.

                                    Thanks man.
