Jamal is a full-scale ocean-going workhorse engineered to move volumes of liquefied natural gas safely across the world’s trade routes. Built in 2000 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan, this commanding carrier stretches 290 meters from bow to stern and spans 46 meters across the beam. Its double-hull construction surrounds a cargo capacity of approximately 132,626 cubic meters, delivering the security and efficiency demanded by long-distance LNG transport.
Displacing a gross tonnage of 112,090 and deadweight near 72,692 tons, LNG Jamal blends carrying capability with surprisingly brisk performance. A reported top speed of roughly 20 knots allows this giant to keep demanding delivery schedules while crossing open water with confidence. Her distinctive spherical containment tanks, towering above the main deck beneath protective covers, create the unmistakable profile enthusiasts associate with classic Moss-type LNG carriers. Originally operated in Japanese service and identified by IMO number 9200316, LNG Jamal represents the specialized engineering behind the global energy supply chain. From the elevated bridge and expansive deck piping to the massive hull below, every feature serves one mission: transporting cryogenic cargo reliably, efficiently, and on a truly impressive scale.
Bancroft’s stunning 1/200 scale Jamal replica is meticulously handcrafted from fiberglass, metal, plastic, and photo-etched components, resulting in a model that any modeler would be proud to sail or display. Requiring only minimal final assembly and charging the included LiPo battery, the Jamal can be quickly prepared for her maiden voyage. A powerful 775-size brushed marine motor, metal 4-bladed propeller, and 120A ESC combine to deliver thrust levels that exceed scale operation, while easily removable canister tanks (#2, #4, and #5) offer easy access to the hull interior. A reliable 2.4GHz radio system insures interference-free control and impressive range, while the included 2S 7.4v 2800mAh LiPo and reliable AC charger deliver impressive run times.
Combine this superb scale replica with Motion RC’s outstanding service and support for an incomparable RC modeling experience!
Powerful Single-Screw Simplicity The 1/200 scale Jamal is propelled by a 775-class brushed marine motor, solid steel driveshaft, and scale rudder with draft markings.
Bulbous Bow The bulbous bow reduces wave-making resistance and can improve fuel efficiency at the 1:1 scale ship’s intended operating speed, while the draft markings and anchor assembly combine to create a sense of supreme scale realism.
Amidships LNG Cargo Manifold The complex LNG onboarding and offloading system is accurately recreated in 1/200 scale from metal and photo-etched parts by skilled factory craftsmen.
Easy Access Three of the realistically detailed Moss Rosenberg tanks are easily removed to provide convenient access for ballast, charging, and maintenance.
Handmade, Not Mass-Produced Bancroft ship models are created by skilled artisans that devote hundreds of hours to the fabrication of these museum-quality replicas.
Detailed Aft Superstructure and Bridge The authentically reproduced superstructure is so realistic, you might expect to see 1/200 scale crew members walking around!

Bancroft model boats are molded and hand finished using very intricate details and parts including metal, wood, plastic, and fiberglass. Because of their hand made nature, minor imperfections in the fiberglass, metalwork, or painting may exist. These potential imperfections will not affect the seaworthiness of the vessel or the overall scale boating experience. Bancroft scale RC boats are fragile so care should be taken when moving or transporting your model.
Some of the electronics in this Bancroft boat, including the Battery, ESC, Motor, and Receiver, are NOT intended to get wet; they are NOT water resistant. If any of these electronic components get wet and you attempt to operate your model, the water can cause an electrical short-circuit and void your warranty. In the rare instance that you get water inside your vessel, you should drain the water completely and allow all electronics to fully dry before attempting to operate your model.
