Hey all,
Something that I have seen requests for over the years is plans/drawings for early 1900s steam shovels. I have been collecting original factory plans, manuals, and catalogs, plus patents and have also measured some of the surviving steam shovels. So far have done CAD models for 7 shovels, from Marion, Thew, and Bucyrus, complete down to engine internals and controls. The end result was a working model of a Marion 91 based on the one near me in LeRoy NY, and also a book of plans that has been published by Village Press. It has full drawings of all parts of the steam shovels, at full size dimensions to make it easier to scale to whatever size you want to do a model of. Also has chapters on how steam shovels move, and how the engines/boilers work. A unique reference!
