14.8V 2200mAh 50C 4S RC LiPo and the same battery with only the C rating of 40 C whats the difference ?

C rating...2200 50c should be capable of delivering 110amps max ,2200 40c should be capable of delivering 88amps max. Formula is amp hour rating (2200 mah = 2.2 ah) x c rating. 2.2 x 50 = 110. C ratings seem to be overstated by a lot of brands. The chemistry of standard lipos are pretty much the same. If the two batteries are the same dimensions and weight i would think the 40c rating is closer to legit.

The current rating of your ESC should give you a good approximation of the plane's required battery amperage. Using a higher than needed C rating is the equivalent of putting high octane gasoline in a low compression engine. You are paying more for energy you can't use.

so the bottom Line is if the batteries have a potential of 88 amps and I flew enough to use up 1/2 of that amperage I could fly for 4 minuets?
