  • Using an External BEC ?

Hi All, I have a Castle external BEC (10 amp CC-BEC) that I would like to use with the pictured ESC. This ESC has an internal 5 amp BEC. Can I use the Castle one even though the ESC has an internal one ? (The instruction that came with the BEC say to disconnect the small red wire of the BEC).

If you are going to use the external BEC, what the instructions mean is to remove the internal BEC from the equation. IE, either isolate the middle red wire from the ESC and cut it and tape it or you can work the red wire pin from the plug and tape it. Now you have only one BEC powering the RX rather than 2 possibly competing BECs. Now you need to plug the external BEC into the RX either by plugging into an empty port or use a "Y" and plug it into any port. How you wish to power the external BEC is up to you. You can either use a second, smaller battery (eg. 2s or 3s LiPo) or solder the BEC's wires into the main ESC power cables.
