Do ESC'S make a screeching noise?

My electric trainer nosed over on takeoff in the grass with power on. What made the screeching noise the motor or the ESC?
    so did my Sea Fury

The motor, check to see if the motor has play in it when you pull forward on the propeller (make sure the battery is removed).

If you nosed over and the motor was under power, the screeching noise is the motor trying to spin the prop against the ground. It could be the motor shaft spinning within the prop adapter. Eflite trainer type planes seem to do this a lot. If you didn't damage it, it should run without any noise now. Check motor mounts, possible bent shaft, loose prop adapter.
