  • Product request: Threaded main wheel axles

My flight testing is complete and I’d like to request a product improvement from Freewing. Extend and thread the end of the main wheel axles in order to install a nylon lock nut. Pilots can tighten or loosen the nut to suit their braking needs. I also used felt as washers to smooth the braking action. I was able to land my Skyhawk in 50 feet and my Warthog in 100 feet. Takeoff distance is only slightly increased.

    Thank you.

    Tight wheels save planes.

RuthR720, I'll look into this, thanks for the suggestion.

How many landings can you do before the felt degrades?

You can do the same thing by extending the flat on the axle and letting it set deeper in the strut.

I landed about 50 times and the felt is still in good condition.
