  • colored electrical tape pin striping

What a discovery!! Electrical tape, an xacto knife, an 18" steel ruler, and a self healing cutting board. Your in the pin striping business! All the basic colors are available in the electrical dept. at Lowes or Home Depot For about $4 each.Be sure it is Sotch brand! You can overlay colors and even make multi-color flames. What's really great is that if you don't like what you did, you can pull it up and start over. When you are laying it down, don't stretch it!  When you are happy with your work, coat the plane with Varathane waterbase polyurethane. This makes your pin stiping permanent. Don't forget to rub the plane down with alcohol ( carefully on painted areas) before clear coating. I apply 2 or 3 coats. By the way, the black tape can leave black adhesive if you move it. Alcohol will clean this up. Oh yeah, it can go around curves! I've done 1/4" radiuses with a 1/8" strip. If it kinks up on small radiuses or compound curves, just cut the kink with a sharp hobby knife. It will then lay down flat. Have fun! The Doctor
