  • Quick question, what is considered the fastest

Been asked this several times as to what motion/freewing edf is the fastest 6s bird?

My guess is the 80mm Mirage but that is only a guess.

Was the F5 a stock or mod'd config?

An Avanti will out run a stock Stinger 90 all day long. I had an F-5 and it is fast but I have heard others say the Mirage is faster.

Didn't I read somewhere that an Avanti was radared at 130 mph??

The product page says 115 stock. I think they are hitting the 130's on an 8S JetFan set up.

Ah, still, 115 is pretty danged good for this old fella. Is it a good sign that I'm finding her slow now??;)

They were both stock but they were down wind passes useing graphene batteries. The F-5 is two years old and the hp F-15 is one year old. There all pretty fast, you won't be disappointed.

I have flown maybe 12 different stock 80 and 90mm EDF's, and the Avanti has been the fastest and best flying. Really a great designed plane.

The Mirage is the fastest. I gps recorded it yesterday at 125mph and the wind was calm.

Rc jetdude I have Avanti and Stinger and Ive made hundreds of high alt drops full speed and the club members all say stinger but in the end every plane can be different from next and ill be sure to radar them. Now Hsd has this model airframe only ive bought which im attempting to put stinger landing gear in, plz check out this link and it you have any ideas id be in your debt.

Im pretty sure it was you that helped me out with my 8s F15 and that us the fastest plane I own now

My Stinger 90 is running on a JP 8S fan and I have outrun stock Avanti's with it. Another plane that really scoots along is the 70mm BAe Hawk. Very comparable to my Stinger 90 actually. Hard to tell on the HSD jet without it being in front of me but it looks like it comes with plastic LG mounts for the mains. If the Stinger LG happened to fit that wouldn't be so bad but if not you may be able to install some 1/4" plywood mounts and disperse the load to the wing. It looks like it has a wing spar and reinforcements foamed into the wing. The nose gear is a bit more tricky but again you would have to try and install pieces of plywood to anchor a mount for the retract. You want to disperse the loads to as much of the foam as possible. It is probably doable. Certainly a good project for a $100 airframe.
