  • Help

I purchased a Hobby Eagle A3 L stabilizer to be used in a P51 V8 Mustang using the new DX6 radio and a Spectrum 6 CH receiver (AR610). I checked out a few videos on youtube but it not too clear to me on the set up settings. Basically I hooked up the gyro then turn it on and got the blue light, since I only have a 6 ch radio and receiver I am not able to use the mode. Does anyone have issues with this gyro on a 6 channel airplane without the mode switch set up also do I still need to tell the gyro that it is flat?

Yes, every time you plug in the gyro, go hands off and let the gyro load. If you have an off/on switch set up for the gyro and when its on, its showing a blue light, that's good, the red light is for 3d and you don't want that. You don't want to fly it without an off/on switch though. If, for some reason, its not set up right, you need to be able to shut it off. Most guys start off with the adjustment screw at 11 o'clock from what I've read and adjust from there.

Thanks, I guess I need to use the gyro in a 4 channel airplane, I am afraid to fly my Mustang with this set up on a 6 channel radio and receiver

        RE: Help

Yeah, I have a DX6i and bought a couple of A3L's but found out that they require a three way switch (although there is a way to rig it up with two switches on a Dx6i) as I didn't have enough switches to sacrifice two for the gyro.  I bought a DX 8 and its a great radio, even comes with a free 8channel receiver, so the price is pretty good considering.  You don't need to change out your 6 channel receivers either, so that was a good thing!!
I haven't had a chance to run one through its paces yet as the weather hasn't cooperated, but lots of guys here have.  I put one in My Pandora just to try it out.  She's a great flying airplane even without it, so it should be even better with it.  I toyed around with the idea of just flying and leaving it on, but in the end, I decided I didn't want to take the chance and pile up my airplane, so..............
