  • Adding weights to get CG within limits

I got a Great Planes CG and was trying to get my Dynam P47D 1220 within the 70 to 75 mm from the leading edge next to the fuselage. The battery is all the forward and when i try to balance it it needs like 1.5 oz of lead weight in the nose of the cowling. this seems excess to me . i try it upright and upside down positions it still in the 1.5 to 1.75 oz. I do have the drop tank attached to it on the belly. Should i remove and try to balance or leave it on.? Thanks in advance.

That’s really not that much weight I had to add 2.5 oz in the nose of my Dynam Hellcat. Your other option is to use a larger battery to get the added weight plus it adds a little to the flight time.

      G'day Bolter,
I agree with farmflyer here. That is not a lot of weight at all.
I needed 150 grams of weight to the noses of all my FMS Mustangs. I think it is 28 grams per ounce. So, six ounces or so.
      No biggie.
      Regards and respect
