  • MRC Forum Presence

    Greetings Gang,

I'm sure that I'm not the only one to have noticed, but it seems that of late, the guys at MRC have made a concerted effort to increase the frequency of their presence  here on the forum.

You've surely even noticed that the main MRC spalsh page even has a "Get In On The Conversation" blurb within the rotating placards referencing the Hobby Squack forum.

It think this is an outstanding developement and brings back the feeling of the old forum days!!!
I say welcome back guys, even though 'technically' you never left, and know that we always enjoy and appreciate your being on line and especially your valued input !!!

I agree with you, it makes them just one of the guys when they show their interest, I really appreciate that.  That's one thing I've always felt with MRC, the love of the hobby.  We got to work on that convention!!

I'm thinking that we go to Pilot Ryan's field!  All MotionRC Fly In.  I know we hinted around about this last Fall, as well as a video tour of MotionRC, but we didn't hear any interest from the boys.  I'm thinking it would be great advertising for them!!
I'd personally love to get together with all the guys from the forum and have a Flyfest, what say you?

I'd love to fly with you guys! We are in South Bend Indiana which is 3 hours or so from the warehouse. Our club field is called Tri-Valley RC. It sometimes feels very much like Motion RC Field because no one is there. Not because folks don't fly, just that they don't if winds aren't perfect, and we are the only ones who fly in the winter. Mike and I have to go when we can. When the weather is good and because of the mat we are seeing a lot more folks. We help a lot of guys out there with their equipment or plane set ups. We love it. I do a lot of maidens period, and even more for some of our guys, many of which have been flying for quite some time but are new to electric. No vibe here. Call us whenever you want.
Ground penetrating radar, that's what I'm talking about.

                                    Greetings Ryan,

Sweet!! South Bend..... "Home Of The Dome"!!

Hey, I was just ribbin' you on the vibe thing.

It's funny that you mentioned that even though it appears you fly from a very private field (hence, the notion of MRC Field) you guys belong to an RC Club and fly from that field. What caught my attention was when you mentioned that the reason it appears so private is that no one else will fly unless the winds are "perfect".

I started thinking, that must be a universal RC problem. Being the president of our club, it often astounds me when I compare the number of active members on our roster to the number of "pilots" I actually see regularly at our flying field. Typically, it's the same 10-15%. The reason is almost always, "oh, it's too windy for ol' so and so to fly"! Too windy = any movement of the wind-sock!

I have a member that I know owns nearly 100 RC aircraft (acquired over many years) and during my three years as club president, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen him fly/or not fly because it's "Too Windy". Dude, this is Oklahoma, it's ALWAYS windy!!!!

Anyway, what I'm getting at, I suppose, is that if I were to video every time I'm at the flying field, to the outsider it would most likely appear that it was my personal field because there wouldn't be anyone in the background.

I'm not sure if making the MRC videos and providing support to knockleheads like us is your (and Capt. Mike's) primary occupation, but if it is, you've got a very cool job!!!!
                                    Keep on Keepn' on!!

Some are getting bolder with the advent of gyros. Even we will choose projects according to the conditions. We always have a list of projects going on. Some can muscle through while others might make it but would look horrible doing so. I had Dusty long before the conditions were right. That plane is awesome regardless, however in the wind you need to be high intermediate to advanced where on a low to no wind day that plane is as gentle as it gets. The support is a large part of what we do. During winter months it's most of what we do. We handle the social media, facebook, google plus, and youtube. It's a must these days to have a social media presence that engages. That makes it sound too businessy. Fact is we absolutely love it. Between the Customer Service staff, our web guru and visionaries at the top and our fantastic customers we really have a good thing going.

I would think (based on the amount of time I spend just on this forum) that having to ride herd on multiple social media sites as well as doing product builds/flights/reviews/support could consume many, many hours!!!
