The association of shipping lines, terminal operators and stevedores made public details of its contract offer, including 3 percent annual raises over five years, retaining employer-paid health care, and raising pensions by 11 percent. The average dockworker now makes $147,000 a year in salary, plus $35,000 a year in employer-paid health care and an annual pension of $80,000, according to an association press release.

    RE: Product arrival

    Hello Hippie,
And the news just put another blotch mark onto the already tainted perception of the American culture !
REALLY....... a dude with probably no high level education making as much as your entry level family doctor.
That's all I got to say about those bandits and their related association.

      RE: Product arrival

I have nothing against a man making a living but this is ridiculous!

I may upset some but unions cause this . They killed Detroit, made our mail system bankrupt, etc. . The examples are almost endless . There was a time that they were needed but that time is long past !!!

Strange to hear the labor side enjoy such a lopsided deal, as Unions have pretty much diminished the last 20 years. Being that the shipping line owners/shareholders do have so much clout, this would point to a backroom deal/ kickback to all sides, owers, politicians. Corruption and Cynicism is alive and well!!!
