  • Making glossy paint flat

Hi there folks.   I have been unable, for some reason to find flat black acrylic paint in my local hobby shops.
Does anyone know a trick to take the gloss out my glossy black paint?  I'm using this for touch up with an airbrush on a damaged wing that has very little gloss to it.
    Thanks for your help!

Bluebird try Parma Faskolor . These are water based rc paints . I have used for years and they hold up very well . Fairly cheap at around $4.00 a bottle . You can use as is or thin down with water , I use a airbrush also . Mostly get mine thru Tower . Big variety of colors so check it out .They come out flat till a covering is added

Try liquid sandpaper at Home Depot, just wipe on, wipe off. Fine steel wool will also take the gloss off. Be careful not to coat anything atop a basecoat which is gloss, it will not adhere well and eventually will peel off.

        Hello Bluebird,
Here's another source and considerably cheaper and everyone has one of these stores where they live. Yep.....Walmart........they carry a brand of acrylic paints called Apple Barrel. The come in the rainbow of colors in flat(50 cents), gloss($1) and fluorescent($2), all in 2 ounce bottles. A ten spot gets you a boat load of colors.

Thank You, Bryan, CT & Warbird Charlie You each provided helpful advice and information,..I think I will go with one of the paint options, but I will need to steel wool the existing glossy areas I created to make it all look right. Or I can spray them over.
Hope you all have a great flying season in 2015.
          Regards, Bluebird

I found a great flat black in a small bottle at Ace Hardware, check out the airbrushing thread, Walmart carries the same under a different name in the crafts section.
