RE: First flight of the year
Congrads! It is posts like yours that always amaze me, I am in CA where we take it for granted flying weather 12 months/year. This winter in the Northeast is just unbelievable, How do you run a business or entertain your 4 kids when everything is closed for days from weather? I also think I would go nuts not being able to fly for weeks/months on end. My hats off to all you brave souls.Originally posted by chevstar:D Finally had a chance to fly yesterday temps started out at -24 degrees but warmed up to a balmy +20. RE: First flight of the year
Well, you are braver than I am at 20 degrees. I guess the older I get the less tolerant of the cold I am too. I won't even consider going out until it gets to at least 45+ degrees. I did the winter trick a few years ago with my Super Cub on skis. My hands fell off!!!! I now realize they have the cloth bags you put your receiver in but I haven't tried that yet. My hands are cold IN THE HOUSE!.
Glad you could go out and fly...enjoy. It was 3 degrees this morning here in Maine and rose to an incredible 24.Addicted to planes!

RE: First flight of the year
Greetings Chevstar,
Congrats on getting out for some fly-time!!
I have to question your judgement though. Brrrrrrrrr!!
A risky venture too as LiPo's do not like super cold weather and tend to die off quickly/prematurely.
Cool that you were able to fly though!!

RE: First flight of the year
I kept the batteries in my truck where it was nice and warm and I always fly with my low voltage alarm I like the alarm it takes the worry out of losing the airplane due to a low battery, well worth the 7$Live Free or Die
