  • What is up at NP & BH?

I was surfing around on other hobby sites, and noticed that NP only shows 3 Dynam planes now, and everything else is in their discontinued file. Have they dropped Dynam now that MRC is carrying them? Their stock is really down, about the only thing they have are the Airfield planes. At least in the kinds of planes I'm interested in.

And BH is in worse shape, nearly everything is out of stock. I keep watching them to see if/when they get that new 1600 Skyraider in stock.

Maybe it is due to the dockworkers strike, and they will soon have inventory again. Most things I buy from MRC, but they don't always carry what I want, and I hate to see my choices getting so limited.

To be honest NP has the worse possible customer service EVER, I will not ever buy from them again because of the way they treated me over a problem I had with a RTF plane I got that had a bad receiver (I thought) right out of the box ended up having to buy the receiver, to find out that the transmitter was the problem, and yep that was my problem as well so I bought a new transmitter. Got the plane all hooked up and the rudder/ nose gear servo was not good (the plane was a V1 airfield Skytrainer). Long story short I replaced all of the electronics with stuff not built by airfield (FMS), and had an awesome plane that I had many enjoyable flights with. So as for NP and their policy of you bought it, therefore the problem is your problem, well my problem with them is their problem and I will not send another red cent their way.

But that is my opinion, and may not be agreed with. And maybe your luck with them will be different than my experience. Also this story took place back in 2010/11.

I agree, I don't care for their customer services either. It seems that both their inventories has been zero for over a year. Seems like that just want to go out of business. Well, for me it's Motion all the way. If they don't have the plane I want, then I don't need it!

Don't forget the big strike at the ports on the west coast - a lot of parts didn't get delivered, yet. Many business that keep a small stock on hand have been hurt.

I heard some commentary during the West coast shutdown that some companies are changing production and mfg. to the US since it would eliminate shipping costs. I believe this was in the apparel industry, surprised if shipping costs are actually that expensive.
Hard to know what BH and NP are planning, they are both in my home state and never like to see any employment be lost but they cut there own throats. NOTHING  alienates the consumer more than terrible customer service and inferioir products. If given a choice between MRC and the absolute frustration caused in dealing with the others it is clear that they have an ever dwindling share of this market and in time will cease to exist if unchanged.

That is what I am hoping has happened Wintrsol. I agree with everyone that MRC is my preferred source, but a little competition is good for the business, as well as providing some variety too. I've never ordered from BH, but have been tempted several times, especially for the LX F4F Wildcat they carry. NP is where I used to get all my Dynam planes from, but since MRC started carrying Dynam, I have been ordering from MRC. Never had a problem with NP though, and on the couple of times I contacted them, they did respond quickly and resolved the issue.

Be careful if you do get the LX F-4. Had mine last year and flying it was like balancing a marble on top of a pin, all white nuckle flying. Just make sure you mix some elevator and rudder to your ail. Fun plane but have to minimize flying time as it goes through a 5000 bat in a couple minutes.

Are you talking about the F4 Phantom, or the F4F Wildcat? It is the Wildcat that I want, and I'm not sure it will hold a 5000mAH battery.

I purchased an A-10 from them (BH) about 2-years ago and it is just a show piece $400.00 later  I will never purchase from either again.    Their customer service is just awful.  I only purchase from MRC whenever possible.  I do not mind paying more for great customer, no matter the company.

RE: What is up at NP & BH?

                    Greetings Loneflier,

As I have also been waiting on the return of the 1600mm A1 Skyraider, I too have been viewing the BH and NP sites lately.
I've also noticed the drastic reduction in their Dynam offerings.

A bit un-nerving really. While MRC does carry Dynam, they seem to be very picky on which Dynam models they elect to carry.
While like many of us, I preferr to stay with MRC, if BH or NP have the models I want then that's where I'll go.
I have ordered from both in the past and never had an issue.

I will say for all of the "customer service rules!" crowd, that HK has really stepped up to the plate lately and their customer survice/support now, IMHO, rivals MRC's.
And of course, the shear diversity of what HK offers is off the charts.

If all of this lack of inventory is indeed west coast dock related, I sure hope it ends soon!!

Last time I looked at NP and BH, almost everything was out of stock. Looks like they're going out of business. You can't beat Tower Hobbies products and service if you are into balsa/ply ARF's. MRC for foamies. TH for balsa/ply ARF's. You can't go wrong with these guys! Doc

When nitro planes is at the Toledo show, do they just hang signs on their table that say "out of stock" or do they actually have inventory ????
