Greetings,
On my way to the air field, I dropped by my LHS to pick up some excellerator and there on the shelf sat the new E-Flite Rare Bear!!!
Buy me! Buy Me! It cried!! Being the softy that I am........ Well, you guy's that have known me for a while can figure out the rest.
This Morning, I had the chance to maiden the E-Flite Rare Bear.
As I said in my MRC review, WOW! That's it......... Simply WOW!
Well, to be totally honest, today I assembled and maidened the Rare Bear, Right At The Flying Field!!!
Assembly (all screws) literally took less than 50 minutes, unboxing to runway!
Once assembly was completed and the unit bound, (this is the BNF) a friend was enlisted to hand toss the plane and the rest is where the WOW comes in.
It flew on a 4-cell 3600, 50C and not much of a toss is required.
The plane flies incredibly smooth and amazingly quiet!
Oh, yeah and FAST!!
We had no radar available, but there was a definate Zing! in the air on passes.
The AS3X (enabled by default) really assists on stability during the low, high speed passes and pull outs.
Vertical is almost inlimited, but at only 34" or so wingspan, I would get too crazy unless you have excellent vision.
I'm not a fan of hand-tossing or belly-landing, but I understand the need to keep things light on this plane for the speed factor.
Someday, I would be interested in an option for installing retracts even at sacrificing a bit of speed.
All in All, I'm very pleased and recommend this plane!! It is as advertised.
