  • Alternative to using metal screws into plastic for mounting Freewing/FMS P51-D wing?

Eventually I see these screws either stripping the plastic or the plastic cracking.

I was trying to envision a way to possibly use a 10-32 or maybe larger screw but haven't yet come up with a way to thread the plastic with some kind of a blind nut/regular nut insert yet.

Anybody else with a small car that can't leave the plane assembled and get it to the flying field have any thoughts?

Hi! I thought the same thing but so far, after a year using the metal screws on various airplanes, they have held up well with no strips or breaks.

I've had the same issue. Found a metal screw just "a little" bit bigger. Has held with no issues since last summer. I did have to grind down the diameter of the head of the metal screw a little for it to fit down in.
