Thought I would try flying a sport plane and am going to purchase the Artizan PNP. Does anyone have any tips for flying a sport plane? Overall how does it fly for those who own the plane?

The first time you fly a sport plane, you will want to setup 3 sets to dual rates on a 3 position switch. I'd shoot for 60%, 80%, and 100%. You likely will not need 100% at all. You will also want to dial in 20% to 25% expo. I'd take off using the 80% rates and switch to 60% when you get up higher. Ease into the elevator the first time you take off as you may be amazed by the amount of control you have since the control surfaces are larger. Essentially the goal is to set it up so it acts like a warbird and ease into greater throws, more control, and more fun as you become accustomed to a sport plane.

Well I finally had a chance to fly the artizan. I was pleasantly surprised on how easy it was to fly. I am glad I did not spend the extra money for AS3X. I think this will be a great intro plane for flying sport planes.

Great to hear! For others who may be considering a first sport plane, how did you setup the plane in your radio? If you don't mind telling us about your Expo, dual rates, etc?

I set it up exactly how you suggested in your first post on this thread.
