Just because an aircraft doesn't go Mach 2 or have gatling guns in the wings doesn't mean it isn't a warbird. ;)

Technically PT-17, Tiger Moth and other trainers are warbirds. Sopwith Camel, Snipe, assorted Fokker, BE, SE, Albatross re warbirds.

A few pre-WWI Curtis aircraft, some Wright "Flyer" series and a lot more that pre-date WWII are warbirds as they were purchased by military for experimentation in using aircraft for war.

It doesn't have to be WWII or later.

The Penguin could be argued as being a warbird but they could barely hop off the ground on a good day. (but many WWI allied pilots got initial taxi training in them)
FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

Oh I was certainly not saying that meant no OV-10! I was just throwing it out there as another clue and to eliminate bombers and civilian aircraft from the great guessing game! I honestly have done a bunch of research on the Ov-10 since getting on squawk and I have found myself becoming a fan of it very quickly so I would be down for an OV-10 for sure! I haven't quite made it to drum beater yet, but consider me a purchase if it comes!

I have zero clues to how to get to "five eyes" with it but if I am just throwing out wants/guesses, I'd love to see a FL 1600mm Corsair! :corsair

Uhh, bombers ARE warbirds, some like the B-25G, more than others. So are some civilian aircraft that have military "cousins", like the DC-3/C-47, or the Lockheed Constellation, which had an ASW variant as well as being an airliner.

Yes, you can twist quite a few planes into a "warbird" but bombers are generally referred to as bombers, not warbirds. As far as civilian aircraft, yes I understand many have a military variant but then it wouldn't be the civil aircraft! I'd love to see a King Air done one day and even though there was a C12 version of it, I don't consider the King Air a warbird and I believe if that airframe was ever released, it would be the King Air version, not the military C12.

A warbird is a plane that flew in a war, has no correlation to the type of plane, IE bomber of fighter, Warbird is a warbird. R.

If bombers are their own category, then why doesn't MRC list them as such in stead of under "warbirds" and "Multi-engine"?

I'll bet if you ask the aviation community what a warbird is you'll get the answer of any plane with a military designation. It did not have to fly in combat.

I said generally referred to, not officially classified as... But, clearly this is a sensitive subject so I retract my previous statement! Since we are using "warbird" ver loosely, fingers crossed for a Cessna T41!! :Silly:

A 2m Catalina super scale with retracts would be a must have. Can you imagine the fun with 3D printed details and retractable float tips?!?!

Ok as of now, I’m thinknig it could be one of these two planes

                                    the AT-6 or OV-10

                                    1. They both have to be spoken and not spelled.
                                    2. Both aircraft were considered finicky to fly.

Now fars as the poem, it could be refuring to, two roads = two motors.. OV-10... or
two paths of flight training, fighter or bomber = AT-6

Now for 5 eyes could refer to...
two pilots and one camera= 5 eyes. The OV-10 or
the nations of 5 eyes, all of those countries used the AT-6

Remember Alpha said they prefer to advance planes that aren't otherwise in production. Eflite has a silver AT-6. Flies great, but a PIA to land without kangarooing down the runway.
