RE: National Model Aviation Day Success!!

I bet I check into this to see what anyone may have posted five times a day! I don't have anyone close by to bounce things off of . But I will say I've never been let down by anyone here !!!!!

Too damn bad we all spread so far apart .......

Hey guys, sounds like me, off work fire up the PC and check to see what you all have been up to!
If, some day we did manage to have a get together, I wonder if we'd get more flying or talking in?
Still think it would be awesome to se if we couldn't arrange something.........

Exactly Gman! Every evening after work, I come downstairs to get on the computer and check out this forum to see what everyone is up to as well. I don't always post, but I do read all the new ones! This hobby is very addictive!

Glad everyone is doing well and enjoying flying!

            Hey  Loneflier,

Although I'm retired I'll usually wait till late afternoon or after dinner because some guys are working or flying during the day like me , then I'll check the forum and post. I've never been Facebook or any of those media type person, but this forum is addicting just like the hobby. Great hobby great people! Doesn't get any better. I hope at some point we could get together, that would be something. Great flying everyone!

RE: National Model Aviation Day Success!!

It's been over a year for me and its been the best group I've ever connected with.  I guess a lot of it has to do with the fact that we all have something in common, but even then, to have a group so willing to help one another out as well as new people who come on board has to be rare.  Not to toot our collective horn, but I'm damned proud to be a part of this forum and consider everyone here a friend.
We are truly a national organization and if we were a regular club, we'd be a force to be reckoned with.
So, that's why I think it would be something to try and get as many of us together as we could some time, pick a field somewhere centrally located (yes, somewhere in the middle of the States I guess) and just go for it.
I bet if it came to raising funds for WWP, we'd kick some butt!!

BTW Bill, I'm seriously thinking about Oklahoma next year for Model Aviation Day, anyone else in??

RE: National Model Aviation Day Success!!

                Greetings Gang,

How could I possibly not chime in again on this conversation for multiple reasons..........

First off, only in this amazing day and age of technology can such a geographically diverse group guys and ladies instantaneously talk to each other as if they were sitting around a virtual table in someone's kitchen. Who among us would ever have believed a couple of years ago that one day in the future we would be sharing our passions and our stories - good and bad - for a hobby that consisted of flying chunks of specially constructed balsa wood and/or foam around our parks, back yards and farm lands with complete strangers and without inhibition admit that they adore every minute of it???

To be completely honest, I feel that I am more at ease discussing the aspects of building/selecting/flying model RC aircraft with everyone here on the forum than I am with the members of my own local club and technically, we are all to each other just words on a screen - but we have community.

Second, I simply couldn't image how great it would be to be able to sit down face to face as a collective and just talk with everyone!!
What could it possibly be like to gather and share with individuals so succinctly like-minded??

Heaven on earth?? Maybe. Maybe not.

                I'm thinking......... more like Woodstock!!!!

Will it happen someday?? In the words of Captain Jean Luc Picard, "Make It So!!"

RE: National Model Aviation Day Success!!

Rocketeer said it all, I agree totally. There are many of you that I talk to on the phone and would enjoy flying with rather than members of my own club at times. I believe this Hobby keeps us young at heart and puts things into perspective that life was meant to be enjoyed despite some of the hardships we all face in our lifetimes. So pick up your toys and go play!!
