Thanks Mr. and Mrs Gman! Hope you have a great weekend too. I am hoping to do some flying tomorrow morning. Today was spent around the house doing the yard and things that needed to be taken care of. It was a HOT one too, with humidity to go with it. Hoping for some cooler weather soon.
Gman , and Mam , it has just flown by !! I went out today to try and maiden my FMS Zero but it was just too windy. I still have it and a DC-3 to take up for maidens but it will have to slow a bit before I do .
Really enjoy reading your post since the school . There is a joy instead of a frustration it them now .
Went to fly the Waco today after repairs but the storms moved in and the lighting was pretty close to the field. Having company tomorrow so no flying. Everyone have a nice holiday and good flying!
I'm hoping to finally get the Pitts in the air before the weekend is over, probably drive out to Cowley (50 miles) as its an open field so it won't matter if she pulls to one side, I'll have lots of room to experiment
Hope all goes well with your Pitts flight this weekend!
I just came back in from flying this morning and had a good time. Today was mostly EDF jets for me, and it was a fun change from prop planes for a bit. I flew my F9F Panther, the Stinger 64, and the new UMX Eflite F-16. All flew well, but I was really impressed with how well the little F-16 flew, even in the 5mph winds. Very stable, and surprisingly fast. I tinkered around with the F9F aileron settings and reduced the throws a good bit since they are really touchy on that plane. Got it flying really smooth and nice too, and it looks really good on those low altitude fast passes. The Stinger also did well, I figured out how to hand launch it better and got a couple of good flights out of it today.
Still fighting with that big Cub I built though. It flies OK, but there is something not right and I can't quite figure out what it is. Just kind of squirrely in the air. She glides fine, and landings are easy, but she just isn't as stable as she should be in turns. Odd, that plane with a 71" wingspan should have been the easiest and smoothest flying plane of all that I flew today, but in reality, she is a bit of a bugger to fly. Maybe I need to add some more downthrust.
Anyway, Happy Labor Day to All, and to quote Bill, "clear skies too"
Happy Labor day everyone, hope you all had a great one and a great summer flying. I celebrated by ordering a new plane from MRC. This will be my first larger EDF and I think it was a good choice from all I've read. So I hope to see a big brown box with my new Freewing 80MM F-86 inside show up toward the end of the week!!!!
