Hey Jerry, Goose Fabahhh, Goose Fabahhhhhh, Goose Fabahhhhhh.
I don't blame you one-bit brosef, not one bit.
Best Regards
Woody
To be honest, it's utter bureaucratic non-sense, by people that have no understanding of our hobby what so ever.
Does anyone really think a guy with a big RC plane and a load of C-4 would actually register? Quick answer, NO!
Does anyone think a village idiot that decides they're going to set a new world altitude record with their drone is actually going to label it in any way?

I guess they will have to fine me I am not putting crap on my plane.
After the 1"letters they will say the plane cant gly any faster than the number can be read by the naked eye from 300yds.......crazy.

If the FAA were flooded with unanswerable questions, coupled with ambiguous and unenforceable responsibilities for the agency, they could drop it like a hot potato. With enough help from the AMA, this might be do-able.
The place to voice all of this is with our elected politicians, local FAA Inspectors and LE Agencies. The AMA should be willing to assist and it may be a long road to draw and define a distinction between the irresponsible operators and organized, governed hobbyists. The current language unfortunately places both of us in the same group.
In the meantime, be prepared to cooperate to demonstrate unanimity within the model aircraft community and save yourself some potential fines. As long as you comply you can also voice your disdain.
”...you do not argue with the building inspector”
PERIOD.
But give them something to take back to the conference table to show our respect and concern toward safety - and that is the banner the FAA waves. If we can show and prove that our hobby is a waste of time for the Inspectors to monitor, that language will change.
And by the way, I did get the FAA Inspectors job, accepted the position and then withdrew my application before the recent shutdown. I also know quite a bit about that role and the current demands on their areas of operation.
My current employers made it clear how much they did not want me to leave and a FG12 position was real hard to let go of.
There are things we don’t want to do which will cast a shadow on our current very favorable position. Contempt and non-compliance are just two of those.

Absolutely! We gotta let them know we are against the criminal activity as much as anyone. But to punish us for their actions is not the way to prevent those who want to do harm from carrying out their acts of terrorism. Its like the gun debates. Oh lets just ban guns so no one has access. Sorry to disappoint you folk, the only ones you are hurting are the ones who obey the law. Feel good laws do nothing be get the innocence and law abiding citizens killed. Gun control or model regulations wont ever work against the criminal activity.Originally posted by Hardway View Post

I certainly hope that you all have made you objections known during the public comment period. While it probably won't carry much weight ( just like it did during the comment period on registration) at least you know you participated in the process..I hate this as much as the rest and feel it's foolish and will stop nothing. As only law abiding modelers will be the only ones to do it.
My plan is " Gee it was there when took off it must of fallen off on my last flight"
If you would like to submit your own comment on the Interim Final Rule, simply visit www.regulations.gov and search for "RIN 2120-AL32." The deadline for public comment ends on March 15, 2019.

Well i wrote one. Doubt itll do much good..
Of course you know anyone with ill intent will follow this to the letter... If you believe that you have a worse brain injury than I have. Why must you hurt the general public who follow the rules while you set the criminal element free to do as they wish? Because you can make all the rules in the world, and if they want to cause harm they are going to. As for the rules? To them, they are a challenge to take on, and break. Just keep adding more fuel to the fire, thats what regulation always does. Please, do not send this snowball down the hill to hell.
