            This looks to be a injection mold die with the bite clamps around the perimeter. Was thinking main or tail wheel...the opening in the center looks like it could house landing gear of some short.

                        Since y'all were so generous with your guesses, I'll show the other side to hopefully help answer the question.

                        The mold halves are machined from solid billet (big and heavy) then hand finished. As the positive side shows on the right, there is much internal intricacy not visible in the finished product when viewed from the outside. Making a mold is both a science and an artform, not to mention using the mold properly with tuned recipes for optimum return.
