  • dual Elevator with Aileron mix

I've seen this on video's were the elevators work together with the ailerons. I have a Spectrum dx6i and the 64mm F/A-18 (Royal Maces). I would like to take advantage of the 2 elevator servos. First I'd like them to be connected individually so I can use the sub trim to get them exactly right. Second I'd like to be able to select a mix that allows them to work as elevons.
Needless to say the radio manual doesn't cover this. To my surprise, I couldn't find a youtube video that covered it either. I found video's that demonstrated it but did not show how to set it up.
I could use some help with this.
    Thanks.

Do a google on ailevator, you might be limited by the 6 ch depending on if you use gear and aux channels.

Thanks rc-eflyer, I'll take another look. There are many names for the elevator/aileron mix. I just can't find anything about setting it up that way. Mostly they are videos about demonstrating it after they have hooked it up.

I totally understand what you are trying to do. However it cannot be done with a DX6. You will need a high end radio TX to accomplish elevator, aileron, and taileron mix. For the system to operate in the way you will want it to work, you will require a RX channel for each servo you are going to use. In the case of elevator and taileron mix you will need two servos and they will be required to operate as individual servos and also operate together as one elevator. Next you will require two aileron servos, one left and one right. Again these will be required to operate individually and also as ailerons. To operate the flying controls alone you will require at least a 6 channel RX. But please note this does not include flaps, retracts.

The ailerons will then be required to be mixed with the tailerons. However the tailerons will also have to operate as elevators.

All this is possabile, but not with a DX6 or any other 6 or even 7 channel TX. The problem is in the mixing capabilities of the TX. Only high end TXs have the required mixing facilities required to carry out the operations to make the system work. I don't know if the Spectrum DX9 has the capability, I do know the DX18 is capable, and so is the Futaba SG14 and the MZ18. I don't know about other makes though.

            I hope this helps you.

            Martin.
