RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
Hello Ron,
MRC has support and video tabs you can reference when you are checking out a certain airframe.
Pilot Ryan in his videos talks to your CG question.
Check it out............. http://www.motionrc.com/dynam-supermarine-spitfire-1200mm-47-wingspan-pnp/#description
Good luck and best regards,Warbird Charlie

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
I have one. Cg at 70 to 75 mm back from leading edge at wing root. 1 oz lead behind the spinner using a 2600 admiral 3s or 2500 4s admiral all the way forward mine is a little nose heavy there. I also cut air vents on the bottom of the fuse under the nose and on the bottom behind the cockpit just in front of the inner brace you can see inside. Shim the landing gear forward and sand the fuse behind the spinner to allow the collet to bottom out. I also use a file to scuff the motor shaft to prevent the collet from working off. I have really enjoyed flying this plane I didn't install the flaps I don't think it needs them.

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
Ron the Dynam models are famous for gear problems in temperature under 50 . So your right about getting home and it working great .
Not sure where your at but you may keep that in mind . I have 5 or 6 Dynams and enjoy them all .
Keep us up on how it goes .......

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
why is the spits so darn slow? ive calabrated the the throttle but seems to be the slowest plane at the field...no need to slow down for those crowd pleasing fly byes lol...ordered a 45a esc today and will try a 4s setup later this month...anyone tried this lately?

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
If flown mine a few times on 4s with stock set up without any issues but I only use short bursts of full throttle. I cut vent holes in the underside of the nose and fuse with these I havent noticed any heating problems. The plane has a lot more speed on 4s. I used an admiral 2500 4s all the way forward with 1/2 oz lead behind the spinner balance seemed good. You will have to trim the sides of the battery compartment to get it in.

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
Ron when the gear is open I took my air hose and blew the screw mechanism real good then put some white grease on them . Then I worked them back n fourth . Seems to help some . I do know that MRC has asked them to look into it .
As long as you have gear with no rotation Dynam offers a upgraded retract . It's in the upgrade tab and they seem to work pretty good also .
Good luck and keep us up on your progress

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
Greetings from the Pacific NW,
Sorry to hear about your Spitty. I wish I would of ran across this post earlier. I may have been able to help. I have a few Dynam war birds in my inventory and just received this week the Dynam Spit Fire to add to my collection. From experience in owning the Dynam P51 Mustang I may have saved you a major headache. The P51 has the same set up as the Spitty. Not being fast enough I carved in a 4 cell and up graded the ESC. And your right, it was a different plane the whole 4 times I flew on the 4 cell set up, and ended just like your Spitty. WHY? The motor is not designed for the 4 cell pack causing power surges instead of consistent power, Making the plane unpredictable on take offs. I never knew what was going to happen next. Theres 2 ways I have found to increase speed and performance. With the stock 3 cell set up, just simply change the prop to a 12x12 apc single blade. I'm talking a night and day difference in speed and performance with out losing any flight time or over heating the ESC. It dont look as sexy when on the bench, but who can tell when its in the air. The second way is what I'm working on right now. Motor and ESC swap. I'm installing the Dynam SU26 KV650 4 cell motor and a 50 amp ESC. Its all plug and play. In theory my spitty will rip up the skys with long flight times to. I'm staying with the apc 12x12 single blade which combined with the higher out put motor thats designed for a 13x6 single blade, Will be plenty fast and stay very cool. Any longer prop may strike the ground during take offs and landings. Other wise I would use a 13x12 single blade. Hope this helps in the future. Pacific NW Flyer :cool:Pacific NW Flyer

RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire
I have the Spit and the P-51...
No ESC upgrade needed to go 4S.
Just carve foam for a 4S 3000 mah to fit and fly it.
A bit light and low powered on 3S 2000, but they come alive on 4S. They can carry 4S 4400... but performance starts suffering above 4S 3300 due to the weight.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.
current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

Yea thats what I first thought to, Oh it handled it just fine when all was new. You just keep doing what ur doing. Dont take any advice from us old timers who've been doing it for years. When you burn out the ESC, or have a dead stick landing when the motor surges to screeching halt, I wont say I told ya so. Good luck and Happy flying.Originally posted by fhhuberI have the Spit and the P-51...

I think you need to shut up.
