Just carve foam for a 4S 3000 mah to fit and fly it.

A bit light and low powered on 3S 2000, but they come alive on 4S.  They can carry 4S 4400... but performance starts suffering above 4S 3300 due to the weight.
Yea thats what I first thought to, Oh it handled it just fine when all was new. You just keep doing what ur doing. Dont take any advice from us old timers who've been doing it for years. When you burn out the ESC, or have a dead stick landing when the motor surges to screeching halt, I wont say I told ya so. Good luck and Happy flying.
Since its been working in the P-51 for 2 years...

I think you need to shut up.

I've only been flying RC for 40 years... electric replaced all of my glow stuff 9 years ago.
LOL, Really? I cant believe you just went there. I didnt mean to offend anybody, I'm sorry if I did. I forget sometimes that post are so 1 dimensional, meaning no face expressions, or body language. So I do sincerely apologize. Lets look at my facts and compare notes, OK? I tried a 4s in my P51, and oh yea, it really came to life. Then one day I went zipping down the runway and it just died. Burned up the ESC. So I upgraded the ESC, about 5 flights later, I noticed the motor would surge on take offs causing inperdictability, and once in the air the motor would make a bad vibration sound. Then on its final flight, the motor made a horrible screeching sound and seized. Every single owner of the Spitfire and P51 with this set up that I know of, and theres about 10 people, 5 in our club, and the guy who started this post all experienced the same mishap with running a 4s in theses birds. So thats what I know from experience and other people having the same issues. So that leaves me with 1 question to you. Whats the secrete? :D

You were being an offensive ass.

I did the wattmeter test and there was 15%margin vs the ESC rating AFTER going to 4S.

Carved a little foam so the 4S4000 fit (didn't have the 3000 or 3300 yet) and never looked back.

I've had to reglue some joints over the 2 years and I've had to re-hinge half the controls.

After 2 years... I decided for appearance a P-51 needs a 4-blade and changed motor to put on an APC 4 blade prop. Same motor as is in the 109. Still the same ESC...
Just a dozen flights on that so far.
FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

Well why then is everybody else having so much problem with the motor not lasting when powered up by a 4s? Your the only 4s success story I've come across. Mine lasted around 10 flights with some very aggressive flying, My buddy got around 15 flights before his motor squealed and quit. He wasnt as aggressive and got a little longer life. I assumed my ESC burnt out because of the surging thing the motor started doing. Even the guy who started this post crashed his plane in the same manner I crashed my P51 on a 4s.  One of our club members only got 3 flights on his P51 on a 4s before it gave up. His motor actually let out the smoke. He was mad!

          RE: Dynam Supermarine Spitfire

Why you have issues? I don't know.

I tend to run the full pack at full throttle with the Mustang, Me-262 and Spitfire.

I did blow up the Me-262 ESCs... after over a year. 4S as recommended (and wattmeter and IR thermometer says don't push those motors more, though the ESC should have been able to take 3X the power)

          See avatar pic...

Dynam Me-262, Commander EP40 ("The Wings Maker") Dynam Spitfire, Dynam p-51, Dynam Tiger Moth... and the corner of my trailer equipped with solar panels. (can charge EVERYONE's batteries and have power left.)

I had a Flyzone Seawind that I crashed on the maiden flight, completely my fault but, after that I could never get it to fly right After about 4 rebuilds I gutted it and trashed the rest! I was happy to see it go!
