  • LOSS OF AN OLD FAVORITE

Last Tuesday in Chicago it was a perfect morning unlike the day before to go flying , winds light 50 degrees. I brought my tried and true Sensei which I have had since I returned to flying three years ago. It has become my go to easy flyer and warm up plane, I was going to follow up with my Waco. Well I took off to the west climb to altitude to get into a counter clockwise pattern and on my east bound leg made a right turn to the north and when I went to make my turn back west the plane would not respond and continued on northerly course level at about 200 ft. until I lost site of it. I have no clue as to what happened I have used the same Tactic 650 Tx and the same Rx for three years and never any problems. My name and number and AMA number were in it but so far no word, which I hope means I didn't hurt anyone or cause any damage. I did a through preflight just don't get what went wrong. Well I was going to get a Pandora in the future I guess I'll get one a little sooner. Man that is a hopeless feeling,!

Could have been something as simple as one of your battery leads coming un soldered....where
Were you flying in Chicago ?

      That's hard!!
Maybe it flew south for the winter!?
Goes to show you though, the old adage that every plane has an expiry date.

      BTW You'll love the Pandora!

        Hey Weedsnagger!

I don't think it was a battery lead, but I leaning towards a receiver problem. Last year I had a mishap with the plane and the receiver took a good jolt from it. Never thought much about it never noticed a problem except a momentary loss of signal early this season, wrote it off as a outside problem. I think maybe it was a precursor to the Rx giving up the ghost. I should have paid attention.  Where I fly in Chicago is called Shiller Woods where our club has a dedicated field with a 300x50ft. asphalt runway. Take a look at our site if you like, radiosignalmodlers.com.

        Hey GMan!
I think your right about that old adage my friend,I just hate losing a whole plane to those same geese. Ha!Ha!. I'm hoping the Pandora will be a worthy replacement.

        Good flying guys!

Hey Boomer, I was just over discussing paint jobs and I think there are a few great Pandoras out there since they are the perfect plane to get into the world of painting.  It maybe something right up your alley as well!
I'm tempted to pick up another just to have something to paint!
