Just getting back into the hobby after 25 years. I received my new Arrows T-28 last week and have it together. However I'm having a issue with the CG, the manual calls for 45mm-50mm from the leading edge, does anyone know if this is correct? By my measure this falls on the first panel line on the wing. I have a 3s 2200 installed all the way forward and the plane wants to balance about 30mm - 40mm farther back (about the second panel line. Which means I'm REAL tail heavy if the manual is correct. I've tried adding an additional 170grams of weight along the battery tray but still balance well behind the first panel line. My skill level is not back to where I can handle (save) a tail heavy plane. I'm still getting back in practice flying my Eluna and FMS Kingfisher.

I can’t tell you if the manual is right or wrong. I don’t have this plane. However, how are you balancing it? Are you doing it upside down or right side up? The T-28 is a low wing plane and as such, should be balanced upside down. If you’re doing it right side up, it might be teetering too much to get a good balance. -
I am checking the balance with the plane inverted and with the gear up. Also, this (from what I can tell) is the same plane as the old Eleven Hobby T-28. Thanks for the response.Comment

OK. Understood. That's really odd that it won't balance with the recommended battery all the way forward. Perhaps get someone at your flying field to have a look at it. Like you said, you don't want to send it up when it's very tail heavy.
PS, I am familiar with the T-28, only not the one you have. I have the 2000mm Carbon Z T-28, but the principles for balance is similar.Comment

I have been flying the 1100mm Eleven Hobby T28 for over a year, and if yours is the same , I use a 2200mah 3S battery all the way forward in the compartment, and zero additional weight. This plane is a terrific flyer and takes off and lands well on our less than perfect grass runway. I set my flight timer at 6 minutes and fly the daylights out of it without overextending the battery. My balance point is about 1/8th inch behind the servo wire slot on the bottom of the wing. If you plan on wringing this plane out, I would use a 40C or higher battery. By the way, where did you buy this Arrow brand? I was disappointed to see that there is no longer an Eleven Hobby version available.Comment

Just located my Eleven Hobby T28 manual, and it also states 45-50 mm from L.E. for cg. If you measure from wing l.e outside of the taper at fuselage that is where mine is marked.Comment

Thanks voodoo, I feel better about where the plane is balancing. I got my T-28 from hobbyzone.com you can also find them at arrowsrc.com it's the same. They also have a P-51 Mustang, F8F Bearcat, and a F4U Corsair. They just had a $10.00 price increase so they're now $199.00 with free shipping. They're located in Minnesota, sure beats shipping from China lol.Comment
