You "can" BUT, it may not get off the ground. This is a 6 cell plane and by using a 4s battery, you are reducing the max rpm by 1/3 and thus, reducing the thrust by about 1/3. If you use a 5s battery, you reduce the max rpm/thrust by 1/6. You might get away with it if you have a long enough runway if it's NOT thick grass. Also, in flight, you will likely have to keep the throttle high, especially in turns since most planes lose a lot of speed when doing banked turns and can stall and spiral into the dirt. If you decide to buy this plane (if you haven't already), you should also plan on buying the appropriate batteries. Additionally, EDFs perform much better with high "C" rated batteries.
By contrast, you can compare this S. Scorpion to the RocHobby S. Scorpion, which is a 4s plane. Take a look at the weight of it vs yours (1 kg vs 2.3 kg). Now take a look at the power systems (motor kv, fan, ESC and thrust numbers for each) and you can see why the Freewing one needs the 6s power system.
