I recently purchased a older Hanger 9 cap 232 still in box. when I removed it from the plastic bags I noticed that the clear coat layer was starting to delaminate in a few very small areas. is there any way to fix this without cutting and patching as I think the color is no longer available. the areas in question are on the corners of the wing and ailerons.

Have you tried ironing it back on? With any such kits, the first thing I do is to take a hobby iron and iron the whole plane to take out all the wrinkles. In fact, many of Horizon’s “covered” plane kits tells you to do this in the manual. This also seals any (in this case) Ultracoat that might be lifting.

I have an old Seagull Harvard that is covered with the same material, Ultracote and its has the same issue. be careful with heat but a gentle ironing will help at least temporarily. I just finished a Sig Clipped Wing Cub in Ultracote and I've been flying the snot out of it. So far it's fine. Must be an age thing
